JB was born out of a humble store in Victoria, where John Barbuto set up shop in 1974. His philosophy was to deliver a great range of music and hi-fi systems at the lowest prices in Australia.
In 2004, the company made a major move by buying Queensland appliance retail chain Clive Anthony. Those stores have since been remodelled into JB Hi-Fi Home superstores. As well as the regular range of home entertainment, music, and hi-fi products, these larger stores also sell home appliances.
With 178 stores across Australia, JB Hi-Fi has become a one stop shop for all of a consumer’s entertainment and home appliance needs.
