Miele cleans up front loader washing machines

European appliance brand Miele has taken out the award for most satisfied customers – front loader washing machines in our latest survey.

Also a winner in our dishwasher category, Miele have been awarded five stars by survey respondents for overall satisfaction, performance, noise while operating, design and warranty and service.

Bosch and Samsung both received five stars for price, while Bosch also received five stars for ease of use and water efficiency.

Our respondents had some common sources of dissatisfaction with their front loader washing machine. These included the inability to open the door once the cycle has commenced, and the length of time it takes to complete a cycle. They also noted that it can be very difficult to clean a front loader, particularly door seals, which can quickly develop mould.

Other respondents noted a lack of control in regards to programming, and problems with the quality of door seals, latches and hinges. Noise was the most common complaint.

Over half of our respondents say that energy efficiency is the most important factor for them when choosing a washing machine.

Overall satisfaction

Miele have taken the five star rating for overall satisfaction, followed by Bosch and Fisher & Paykel on four stars, and LG, Electrolux, Samsung, Simpson and Whirlpool on three stars.

Price

Respondents who bought Samsung and Bosch front loader washing machines are the most satisfied, with these brands both receiving a five star rating. Simpson, LG, Electrolux, Whirlpool and Fisher & Paykel received four stars, while Miele received three stars.

Performance and reliability

Miele received five stars for performance and reliability, followed by Bosch on four stars. Fisher & Paykel, Electrolux, LG, Whirlpool, Samsung and Simpson all received three stars.

Ease of use

Bosch received five stars for ease of use, followed by Miele on four stars. Electrolux, LG, Fisher & Paykel, Simpson, Samsung and Whirlpool received three stars.

Noise while operating

Miele respondents were happiest with the noise their front loading washing machine makes while operating, followed by Samsung, Bosch, Fisher & Paykel, LG, Electrolux on four stars and Simpson and Whirlpool on three stars.

Design, including appearance/finish of the machine

Miele received five stars for the design of the machine, followed by Bosch, Fisher & Paykel, Electrolux and LG on four stars, and Samsung, Simpson and Whirlpool on three stars.

Warranty and service

Miele customers are most satisfied with the warranty and service they receive, followed by Bosch, Fisher & Paykel and Electrolux on four stars. Three stars were awarded to LG, Simpson, Samsung and Whirlpool.

Water efficiency

Respondents with a Bosch front loader washer are the most satisfied with the water efficiency of their machine, followed by Miele and Fisher & Paykel on four stars, and Electrolux, LG, Samsung, Whirlpool and Simpson on three stars.
