Honda hatchbacks a hot commodity according to customers
The manufacturer with the most satisfied customers for hatchbacks is Honda.
Currently the Japanese manufacturer has several hatchback models including the Civic (in both petrol and hybrid models), the Insight and the Jazz.
Honda has out-manoeuvred Ford, Kia, Toyota, Mazda, Hyundai, Holden and Suzuki to win our award.
Honda also received five stars for both after sales service and reliability and performance for hatchbacks. Kia was another five star winner for hatchbacks for value for money.
Our new survey also reveals that younger drivers have a penchant for sound systems – at the expense of safety.
Nearly a third of younger Aussies would rather spend their money on a new sound system rather than upgrade the safety features of their vehicles.
Men were twice as likely as women to value subwoofers over seatbelts.
Unsurprisingly, older Australians value safety over style – with only 16% of Generation X drivers and only 4% of Baby Boomers opting for upgraded sound systems.
Canstar Blue commissioned Colmar Brunton to survey 7,500 Australian consumers over a number of months to measure their satisfaction across a range of products and services. The outcomes reported are the results from car purchasers within the survey group. To qualify, the customer has to have bought a new car from a dealership in the last three years.
Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands that received three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10.
Honda is the king of the hatchbacks with a five star rating for overall satisfaction. A host of other popular brands (Ford, Kia, Toyota, Mazda and Hyundai) received a four star rating. Both Holden and Suzuki received three stars overall.
Value for money
For value for money, Kia customers are more satisfied than any other car brands. They received five stars, while Ford, Honda, Toyota, Mazda, and Hyundai received four stars. Suzuki and Holden both received a three star rating for value for money.
After sale service
Honda delivers to satisfied customers once again with five stars for after sale service. Ford, Kia, Toyota, Mazda, Hyundai and Holden all received four stars for this category, while Suzuki followed close behind with three.
Reliability and performance
Honda received top billing with a five star rating for reliability and performance. Ford, Kia, Toyota, Mazda and Hyundai received a four star rating for this category, while Suzuki and Holden received three stars.
