Gourmet pizza lovers give Pizza Capers the five star nod for 2012
Pizza Capers assortment of restaurant-quality pizzas and winning customer service have seen them prevail as the top rated brand in our second survey of Australian pizza store customers.
Along with top scores for the taste of their pizza, customer service during the ordering process and overall customer satisfaction; Pizza Capers received (for the second year in a row) our most satisfied customers award for pizza stores.
Pizza Capers came out ahead of Dominos, Eagle Boys, Crust and Pizza Hut.
Australian customers seemed to enjoy the appeal of their takeaway pizza store, with more than half of respondents declaring they preferred to spend more money on a gourmet pizza option.
While Pizza Capers proved a clear crowd-pleaser overall, other pizza shop brands won fans over in other ways:
- Dominos received five stars for their value for money options, service at ordering, the availability of deals and pizza delivery services.
- Eagle Boys were awarded fives for value for money.
- Pizza Hut received five stars for their pizza delivery services.
Our results also showed that customers were easily tempted when it came to comfort food, with 27% intending to purchase a low calorie pizza but changing their mind in favour of a more decadent option at point of purchase.
That said, 21% of respondents did opt for a lower calorie pizza instead of a less healthy option, and females were more likely than males to choose a low fat option when choosing pizza (23% versus 18%).
Canstar Blue commissions Colmar Brunton to regularly survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from pizza store customers within the survey group – in this case, 1,816 people. To qualify, the customer must have purchased and eaten a pizza (online or in person) from a store or restaurant in the last 3 months (i.e. not a frozen pizza from a supermarket). Brands must receive at least 30 responses to be included.
Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands that received three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10.
Pizza Capers took out the five star spot for overall customer satisfaction; while Dominos, Eagle Boys, Crust and Pizza Hut each received four stars for this criteria.
Value for money
Sometimes, ordering pizza can be more cost effective than making your own. Both Dominos and Eagle Boys customers were the most satisfied with their pizza store’s value for money, earning each brand five stars. Next were Pizza Capers and Pizza Hut with four stars each, then Crust with three.
Service at ordering
For their customer service online, on the phone and face to face; Pizza Capers and Dominos each received five stars. Eagle Boys and Pizza Hut received four stars for this criteria, and Crust achieved three.
Many would argue that it isn’t a complete pizza experience without the combinations of soft drink, garlic bread and a couple of gourmet Italian wonders. Dominos were a shoe-in for the top spot for their meal deals, ahead of four star recipients Eagle Boys and Pizza Hut. Pizza Capers received three stars for this criteria, followed by Crust with two.
Delivery (availability, time and additional charges)
For those times when you simply cannot wait another moment for dinner, terrific pizza delivery services can be a blessing. For their pizza delivery services, both Dominos and Pizza Hut received five stars each. They were followed by four star recipients Pizza Capers, Eagle Boys and Crust.
Taste of pizza
With an extensive menu comes a focus on quality ingredients and tasty slices. Pizza Capers was once again a trailblazer for pizza taste, achieving five stars for this criteria. Crust were close behind with four stars; followed by three star recipients Dominos, Pizza Hut and Eagle Boys.
