ALDI dishwasher detergent is the ultimate grime-fighter

According to our recent survey, the biggest household conflicts of nearly one in five Australians were fought over trivial household responsibilities such as dishwashing or vacuuming.

In particular, New South Wales respondents were more likely to fight over household chores (24%) when compared to South Australian respondents (10%). However the greatest outcry came from our Generation Y respondents, more than a third of whom cited housekeeping as a major source of domestics.

At least doing the dishes can be a relatively quick and painless experience, with 69% of respondents declaring that they use their dishwasher for a majority of their washing up.

In our latest set of results, ALDI triumphed over several other brands to receive our most satisfied customers award for dishwasher detergents. This victory for the supermarket franchise has come soon after they collected several Canstar Blue Taste Awards.

ALDI were rated alongside Earth Choice, Coles own dishwasher detergent brand, Morning Fresh, Finish and Kwik.

Five star results from our survey:

  • ALDI received five stars for overall satisfaction, value for money, effectiveness and smell.
  • Earth Choice received five stars for the environmental friendliness of their dishwasher detergents.
  • Morning Fresh achieved a five star rating for the effectiveness and smell of their dishwasher detergents.
  • Finish dishwasher detergents received five stars for their effectiveness.

Our survey also found that many of our respondents made an effort to be environmentally friendly, as 46% of customers used their dishwasher sporadically to conserve water and energy, and 53% considered environmentally friendly products when choosing a dishwasher.

Canstar Blue commissions Colmar Brunton to regularly survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from dishwasher detergent customers within the survey group – in this case, 1,370 people. To qualify, the customer must have bought and used detergent (tablets or powder) for their dishwasher in the last six months. Brands must receive at least 30 responses to be included.

Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands that received three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10.

Overall satisfaction

ALDI’s dishwasher detergent made a squeaky clean finish and received a five star rating for overall customer satisfaction. It was followed by Earth Choice, Coles, Morning Fresh and Finish with four stars; and Kwit with three.

Value for money

For their dishwasher detergent’s value for money, ALDI customers were most satisfied with their product. Following ALDI’s five star rating, Coles received four stars for value for money; followed by Earth Choice, Morning Fresh, Finish and Kwit with three.

The best dishwashers can take on the toughest of dinner clean-ups…but high tech gadgetry means little without an effective detergent product. A three way tie for five star dishwashing effectiveness occurred between ALDI, Morning Fresh and Finish. Earth Choice picked up four stars for this criteria, while Coles and Kwit received three.

Environmental friendlines

Earth Choice – who also achieved five stars for environmental friendliness for laundry liquids – achieved a five star rating for their dishwasher detergent’s ‘greenness’. Morning Fresh received four stars for environmental friendliness, followed by three star winners ALDI, Coles, Finish and Kwit.

There’s something quite appealing about dishes that smell like lemons, making Morning Fresh and Earth Choice deserving of their five star rating for their smell. ALDI and Finish received four stars each for this criteria, while Coles and Kwit received three apiece.
