Most Satisfied Customers Washing Powders 2012

What goes in doesn’t always come out the same, as a quarter of respondents to our recent survey found out the hard way when they ruined an expensive article of clothing in their washing machine.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Generation Y’s were the most likely age group to have ruined a pricey outfit in the wash (45%). Many respondents confessed they took the simplest approach to their washing, with three in five respondents bypassing the dry cleaners by washing delicate or dry clean only items in the washing machine.

The survey also looked at customer satisfaction with laundry detergent brands, where Biozet came out on top with our most satisfied customers award for laundry powders. Biozet was rated alongside ALDI, Drive, Omo, Radiant, Fab, Coles, Cold Power and Spree.

Our survey also compared laundry liquids brands.

Biozet achieved top marks for overall customer satisfaction, quality of clean, environmental friendliness, smell and the feel of clothes after a wash. ALDI also managed five star ratings for their value for money, number of washes and environmental friendliness.

Our survey results also found that a quarter of respondents didn’t bother to measure how much laundry detergent they poured into their machine – instead preferring to free pour. Interestingly, more men than women preferred to go freestyle with the amount of laundry detergent used (29% versus 22%).

Canstar Blue commissions Colmar Brunton to regularly survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from laundry powder customers within the survey group – in this case, 1,226 people. To qualify, the customer must have purchased and used a laundry detergent in the last 3 months. Brands must receive at least 30 responses to be included.

Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands that received three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10.

Overall satisfaction

Biozet achieved an impressive array of top ratings in this category, not least of which was their five star score for overall customer satisfaction. They were followed by four star recipients ALDI, Drive, Omo and Radiant; then by three star recipients Fab, Coles, Cold Power and Spree.

Value for money

ALDI received five stars for the value for money of their laundry powder, just ahead of four star recipient Coles. They were followed by Biozet, Drive, Omo, Radiant, Fab, Cold Power and Spree with three stars.

Quality of clean

Customers of Biozet were most satisfied with the quality of the clean that their detergent brand provided. Biozet received five stars for this, followed by four star recipients ALDI, Drive, Omo and Radiant. Fab, Coles, Cold Power and Spree each received three stars for their clean quality.

Number of washes

In most households, the number of laundry loads from a single detergent pack is important. ALDI received five stars for this criteria; followed by four star recipient Biozet and three star recipients Drive, Omo, Radiant, Fab, Coles, Cold Power and Spree.

Environmental friendliness

Purchasing a laundry product that isn’t harmful to the environment is important to many shoppers, and Biozet and ALDI can be proud of their five star rating for this criteria. Drive, Omo, Coles and Cold Power each received four stars for the customer satisfaction with their environmental friendliness; followed by Radiant, Fab and Spree with three.

A fresh smelling towel and a clean smelling shirt in the morning can put anyone in a good mood, so that puts five star rated Biozet in high regard for the smell of their finished laundry. Next were ALDI, Drive, Omo, Radiant, Fab and Spree with four stars; then Coles and Cold Power with three.

Feel of clothes after a wash

Clothes and bedding don’t have to feel like weathered safari gear, so it’s preferable to look for a product that ensures soft sheets and silky smooth shirts. Biozet took five star honours for the feel of clothes after a wash, followed by four star recipient ALDI. Drive, Omo, Radiant, Fab, Coles, Cold Power and Spree each received three stars for this criteria.
