‘Clean trumps green’ with bathroom cleaning products, say one in two consumers

Most Satisfied Customers - Bathroom Cleaners 2013Half of the respondents to our recent survey just want a product that delivers as advertised, and are less concerned about the environment when it comes to cleaning their bathroom.

We noticed a similar sentiment amongst dishwasher detergent customers, with the majority not prepared to pay more for environmentally friendly cleaning products.

Is this indifference born out of ‘clean bathroom’ envy? Half our respondents to this survey complained of feeling judged by visitors on how clean their bathroom was more than any other area of the house.

Interestingly, the results also showed that about one quarter of respondents believed their bathroom floor was clean enough to eat off. More men felt this way than women (29% versus 19%).

ALDI awarded for bathroom cleaner customer satisfaction

Close to three in five respondents told us the bathroom was the least favourite room of their house to clean. It doesn’t have to be a chore though, especially when you have the aid of a powerful, dependable cleaning product.

ALDI brand has achieved our Most Satisfied Customers Award – Bathroom Cleaners, 2013 ahead of other rated brands Orange Power, Earth Choice, Domestos, White King, Pine O Clean, Windex, Dettol, Ajax, Exit Mould, Coles brand, Shower Power, Easy-Off Bam and Woolworths brand.

Canstar Blue commissions Colmar Brunton to regularly survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from customers within the survey group who have purchased a bathroom cleaning product in the last three months – in this case, 1,913 people.

Brands must have received at least 30 responses to be included. Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands receiving three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10.

Overall customer satisfaction

More than half our respondents clean their bathroom every week, and it’s therefore important to find a product that can properly tackle the task. Customers of ALDI brand bathroom cleaners were most satisfied with their domestic cleaning product overall, earning the brand a five star rating. Following were four star recipients Orange Power, Earth Choice and Domestos; then by three star achievers White King, Pine O Clean, Windex, Dettol, Ajax, Exit Mould, Coles brand, Shower Power, Easy-Off Bam and Woolworths brand.

Value for money

ALDI brand received five stars for value for money, in front of four star recipients Orange Power, Earth Choice and Coles brand. Domestos, White King, Pine O Clean, Windex, Dettol, Ajax, Exit Mould, Shower Power, Easy-Off Bam and Woolworths brand all finished with three stars for value for money.

Smell

Orange Power customers were most satisfied with the smell of their bathroom cleaner. This brand achieved five stars, and Earth Choice, Pine O Clean and Dettol all followed with four. ALDI brand, White King, Windex, Ajax, Coles brand, Shower Power and Woolworths brand received three stars each for smell; Domestos, Exit Mould and Easy-Off Bam finished with two each.

Effectiveness

Cleaning the bathroom properly can be a less painful proposition with an effective cleaning product. ALDI brand and Domestos each received top ratings for bathroom cleaner effectiveness – edging out four star achievers Orange Power, Earth Choice, White King, Pine O Clean, Windex, Dettol, Ajax, Exit Mould, Shower Power and Easy-Off Bam. Both Coles and Woolworths brand bathroom cleaners received three stars in this area.

Environmental friendliness

Earth Choice received five stars for environmental friendliness, and was followed by four star recipient Orange Power. Next with three stars each were ALDI brand, Pine O Clean, Windex, Dettol, Ajax, Coles brand, Shower Power and Woolworths brand. Domestos, White King, Exit Mould and Easy-Off Bam all finished with two.

Ease of use

ALDI brand was top of the list for bathroom cleaner ease of use, receiving five stars in this area. Next with four stars were a host of brands: Orange Power, Earth Choice, Windex, Domestos, Pine O Clean, White King, Easy-Off Bam, Exit Mould and Coles brand. Finishing with three star ratings were Shower Power, Dettol, Ajax and Woolworths brand.
