Braun win award in close shave for 2014
As we approach Christmas, it’s time to start thinking of gift ideas for loved ones – especially given it’s smart to start the shopping process sooner rather than later.
Close to four in five respondents to our recent survey stated that an electric shaver is a good gift to give or receive. This makes it a solid all-round choice for dads, grandads, brothers and uncles across Australia.
It’s a challenge to pick the right brand, however. In the electric shaver market, four big names come to mind: Panasonic, Remington, Philips, and Braun. In these latest results, customers rated their level of overall satisfaction with these brands, and Braun has emerged as our awardee for Most Satisfied Customers – Electric Shavers, 2014.
Braun, a German company, even (at time of print) advertise on its website that its products make for great Christmas gifts. Here are a few on offer:
- Cooltec dry shaver: a straight electric shaver that supposedly cuts back on skin irritation and with ‘active cooling technology’.
- Silk-épil lady shaver: if you’re looking for something for your partner instead, this product is apparently designed to get a close shave across “the contours of the female body”.
- WaterFlex Wet & Dry shavers: Reach those hard to reach areas with this swivel head shaver, suitable for both wet and dry shaving.
Braun stood out across the board. It received five star ratings for overall satisfaction, value for money, ease of cleaning, ease of use (i.e. understanding how to operate the device), warranty and service, and consistency (i.e. the resultant shave is always the same1).
Philips was the other brand that distinguished itself from the pack. It received five stars for ease of use, ease of cleaning, and warranty and service.
How we rated electric shavers
Canstar Blue commissions Colmar Brunton to regularly survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from customers within the survey group who have purchased and used an electric shaver in the last 2 years – in this case, 581 Australians.
Each brand must have received at least 30 responses in order to be included. Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands receiving three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10. Not all brands available in the market have been compared in this survey.
1 We’d like to mention that if you’re planning to switch to an electric razor from conventional razors, most people need a few weeks to adapt. If you experience some irritation in the beginning, keep with it for at least a month before you go searching for a receipt.
