Simpson top our list for washing machine customer satisfaction
We use washing machines every week, and there’s a lot to consider when it comes to selecting a new model. If you’re not interested in spending hours poring over different makes and models on your computer, you can avoid the hassle and use our ratings instead!
In this year’s comparison of top loader customer satisfaction, Simpson achieved our coveted award; all the while enjoying a spattering of five star ratings for value for money, performance, reliability, ease of use, and warranty and service.
Let’s take a look at some of our other rated brands:

- LG was also five star-worthy, receiving top ratings for performance, quietness, warranty and service, and water efficiency.

Overall customer satisfaction
Washing machine purchases aren’t to be taken lightly; after all, you’re stuck with your decision for years to come. Therefore, it’s smart to pick a brand that delivers in a variety of ways.
Simpson topped our survey, finishing with five stars for overall customer satisfaction. Next with four stars were Samsung, Fisher & Paykel, and LG, then three star achiever Whirlpool.
Value for money
White good purchases aren’t often cheap, but there are still savings to be had from your new top loader purchase. This is especially so for customers of Simpson and Samsung washing machines. These brands received five stars for value for money; LG received four; Fisher & Paykel and Whirlpool both received three.
Good washing machines will tackle the tough stains, banish odours, and finish their cycle in a reasonable timeframe. Simpson, Samsung, and LG all finished with five stars for top loader performance, but Fisher & Paykel and Whirlpool weren’t far behind with four stars apiece.
Can you depend on your washing machine to operate at peak efficiency, week in and week out? Simpson customers were most satisfied with the reliability of their washing machine, earning the brand five stars. All other rated brands – LG, Whirlpool, Fisher & Paykel, and Samsung – received four stars for reliability.
Ease of use
Once again, Simpson stood out in terms of customer satisfaction – achieving five stars for how easily its top loader washing machines could be used. Samsung, Fisher & Paykel, and LG all received four stars, and Whirlpool finished with three.
If you’re running a laundry load on a Sunday afternoon, the last thing you want to disturb your day of leisure is a noisy washing machine. Samsung and LG each received five stars for the quietness of their top loaders. Simpson and Fisher & Paykel both received four stars, followed by Whirlpool with three.
Warranty and service
Both Simpson and LG achieved five star ratings for the warranty and service options they provided their customers. These top rated brands were followed by our four star recipients: Samsung, Fisher & Paykel, and Whirlpool.
LG top loader owners were most satisfied with the water efficiency of their washing machine. This brand received five stars; Simpson, Samsung, and Fisher & Paykel all followed with four, and Whirlpool finished with three.
Frequently Asked Questions
Canstar Blue commissions Colmar Brunton to regularly survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from customers within the survey group who have purchased and used a washing machine in the last three years – in this case, 540 top loader owners.
Brands must have received at least 30 responses to be included. Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands receiving three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10. Not all brands available in the market have been compared in this survey.
