Where to pick up your morning coffee
More than a quarter of our respondents to our recent survey would sooner skip a meal than they would their coffee. With this in mind, we endeavoured to discover which establishment Australian bean-lovers run to for their daily caffeine hit.
Muffin Break are three time award-winners for coffee shop customer satisfaction, according to our latest results.
This comes from our latest survey of Australian customers who visited a coffee shop chain in the last six months, who then reported to us how satisfied they were with their choice.
And these are seasoned coffee drinkers too – more than half our respondents report they have had the same coffee order (e.g. double shot latte, one sugar) for several years. Another interesting fact about these coffee drinks is that they are just as happy to purchase from a chain as they are from an independent café – the coffee must be great everywhere!
Other brands rated were Zarraffa’s Coffee, Michel’s Patisserie, The Coffee Club, McCafé, Gloria Jean’s Coffee, Starbucks Coffee, Hudson’s Coffee, and Dome.
Zarraffa’s Coffee was particularly hot on our award-winners heals, earning five stars for customer service, coffee taste, taste of other drinks made, quality of food, and consistency across stores.
Take a look at our full results in the table above.
About our Award Winner: Muffin Break
Muffin Break has been part of the Australian café scene for a quarter of a century. Since then, it has developed quite the range of delicious cakes and pastries (baked each morning), as well as a bevy of great coffee options for consumers to try.
It stood out in this survey for:
- overall satisfaction,
- the quality of food,
- its loyalty program, and
- consistency across all its stores.
Muffin Break also won a significant accolade at Café Culture’s Golden Bean Awards this year. Clearly, this brand is really resonating with consumers right across the country.
How we rated coffee shop chains
Canstar Blue commissions Colmar Brunton to regularly survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from customers within the survey group who have visited a coffee shop chain in the last 6 months – in this case, 1,604 customers.
Each brand must have received at least 30 responses in order to be included. Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands receiving three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10. Not all brands available in the market have been compared in this survey.
