The odds of seeing a friend at a party without a drink in hand are slim, according to our latest survey.
The results reveal that nearly two thirds of Australians consume alcohol at the majority of social gatherings. It also appears men are more likely than women to be found with a drink at their side.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, more Generation Y respondents (over two thirds) agreed they drink at most of their social engagements compared to 63% of Generation X and 60% of Baby Boomer respondents.
Our survey also shows that some Australians have embraced organic alcohol, with 11% purchasing organic products in the past year.
This type of alcohol is made from ingredients that are grown and processed organically – leaving them free of chemicals that could have potentially been picked up during the fermentation process.
For Aussies heading out to a weekend barbeque, we’ve rated the best bottle shop brands to help you decide where to shop.
Dan Murphy’s received our most satisfied customers award for bottle shops – coming out ahead of First Choice, IGA, Woolworths Liquor, BWS, Liquorland, Thirsty Camel and Vintage Cellars.
While Dan Murphy’s wowed customers with five stars for every criteria, First Choice also rated well – receiving five stars for price, advice, and specials.
Our survey also found that buying alcohol online is fast becoming commonplace; as a quarter of respondents have used these virtual shopping trolleys for their alcohol purchases.
So far, Baby Boomers are leading the charge, with 29% moving to the online medium for their purchases.
Canstar Blue commissions Colmar Brunton to survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories every few months to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from customers of bottle shops within the survey group. To qualify, the customer must have made a purchase from a bottle shop in the last 12 months.
Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands that received three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10.
