Generation Y ‘tyre’ of maintaining their vehicles
* Overall satisfaction is an individual rating and not a combined total of all ratings

Young drivers are putting their car’s roadworthy rating into doubt with unsafe tyres - according to recent survey results.
Twenty percent of Generation Y drivers surveyed (a full 12% more than the national average) had their cars defected due to bald tyres. Conversely, only three percent of Baby Boomers suffered the same fate.
Looking at drivers across the country, 10% of New South Wales and Victorian respondents defected their vehicle because of potentially dangerous tyres, compared to four percent of Queensland drivers.
Motorists who neglect to check their tyre tread for signs of wear could be at risk of poor fuel economy, and less responsive handling and braking.

The survey results also showed that 64% of female drivers claimed they knew how to change a flat tyre compared to 94% of male respondents.
While some females may not know one end of a car jack from the other, female respondents to our
car servicing survey said they regularly perform basic car servicing duties themselves.
Canstar Blue commissions Colmar Brunton to survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories every few months to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from car tyre customers within the survey group - in this case, 1,012 people. To qualify, the customer must have bought (new) car tyres in the last 18 months. Brands must receive at least 30 responses to be included.
Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands that received three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10.
