Simply Energy Review
Electricity and gas provider Simply Energy supplies homes and businesses across a number of states, with a big focus on highly discounted offers and sign-up incentives.
Simply, which is jointly owned by Engie and Mitsui & Co, was initially launched in South Australia and Victoria in 2005, before expanding into New South Wales and Queensland in 2012.

What does Simply Energy offer?
Simply Energy offers a broad range of electricity and gas plans for homes and businesses (commercial and industrial, operating from home, and small-to-medium enterprise), having formed alliances with an array of commercial partners, which vary state by state.
Simply’s plans for residential customers are amongst the most diverse of any Australian energy provider, which plenty of options to consider for households in Victoria, New South Wales and South Wales. They include:
- Simply Save: a variable rate plan providing a pay-on-time discount off electricity and gas usage charges – the percentage of which varies state by state (available in Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia). Discounts of up to 30% are common.
- Simply Plus: a variable rate plan providing a pay-on-time discount off electricity and gas usage charges, with no exit fees (available in Victoria). Discounts can reach 35%.
- Simply Flexi: only available in South Australia, this variable rate plan comes with a pay-on-time discount off electricity and gas usage charges, with no exit fees
- Simply Gold Class Plus: this variable rate plan offers a pay on time discounts off electricity and gas charges, but also free Gold Class movie tickets for selected cinemas (available in Victoria and South Australia).
In addition to these plans, Simply Energy also offers deals in conjunction with the South Sydney Rabbitohs rugby league club and the Hawthorn football club in Victoria. These plans include a $100 voucher to be spent in the club’s respective superstore.
Simply Energy also has exclusive discounted offers for NRMA members in New South Wales, RACV members in Victoria and RACQ members in Queensland. The majority of the above plans are only available over 24 months.
Green power with Simply Energy
Simply also offers its Simply Green plan in South Australia, via which it provides 10 per cent GreenPower (the government’s voluntary accredited program enabling an electricity provider to purchase renewable energy on a household’s or business’ behalf).
Simply offers its customers a number of solar options, and provides solar PV systems ranging from 1.5 to 5 kW, with customers who are interested in solar able to request a call back by filling out a form via Simply’s website, while also being able to contact the Simply customer service team directly via telephone.
Simply also offers the Tesla Powerwall home storage battery, which works in conjunction with a solar PV system to store energy, which can then be used for later use, while the Simply Energy Online Store ranges a number of products that are aimed at reducing energy usage and saving money.
“Here at Simply Energy, we are always on the lookout for ways to help our customers save on their energy costs,” Simply states. “We have a range of energy solutions available to meet your individual home needs, including solar, battery storage and energy efficient products you can purchase online and have delivered to you.”
Simply customers can create an online account to manage their details, via which they can view their bills and update their details, with Simply stating that it has made it simple for customers to manage their accounts online.
When it comes to billing, customers can opt for eBilling in place of paper invoices, and can pay their bills by Visa or MasterCard online via the Simply Energy website.
Other payment options include receiving and paying bills via the MyPost Digital Mailbox, paying by direct debit, BPay, telephone by credit card, by cheque via mail and in person at an Australia Post office.
