The story behind the brand
Hamilton Sun began in the 1920s, when young chemist Milton Blake was experimenting in his bedroom at an Adelaide boarding house. He’d read in a German trade journal that a certain burns treatment could actually absorb ultraviolet rays as well. His kerosene room heater and old saucepans produced many failures, but eventually he developed an effective sunscreen, tested and approved by the University of Adelaide.
In 1932, Hamilton Laboratories was established by Blake and three of his friends. They also extended from sunscreen into other skin care products for dry or sensitive skin. As you can see, Hamilton Sun and Hamilton Skin have come a long way since these early beginnings.
