About Omo

About OmoPersil, Skip, Breeze, Rinso – any of these brands ring a bell? No? That’s probably because you know them as Omo, one of Australia’s biggest laundry detergent brands. Produced by multinational company Unilever, Omo was launched in Australia (among other countries) in 1954, alongside Drive and Surf (Unilever’s premium and fighter brands). Unilever is the world’s third-biggest consumer goods company, and manufactures a range of products including foods, cleaning agents, and personal care products.

Omo removed all phosphates from its products in 2011, in a bid to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This represents approximately a 30% reduction in the carbon footprint of Omo’s products.

Omo has also announced efforts to invest in the development of a range of products that will be accessible and suitable for many different income groups.

What our survey respondents say about Omo laundry powder

Canstar Blue’s most recent survey of consumers (in this case, 1,392 people) garnered the following comments, among many others, from those consumers who use Omo laundry powder.

It does all you’d expect with a small amount, leaves no residue Omo sensitive for front loaders is not as available as other options.
Best detergent I’ve ever used – I’ve been using it now for well over 10 years When not on special, the laundry detergent is expensive.
A great, reliable product that always gives great results. Needs to be better in quality. Needs a better smell and cleaner clean.
Cleans very well and adds a nice scent to my clothes Clothes never look as good as they do on the ads. There is no “bright whiteness”.
The sensitive version cleans well while still being gentle on my kid’s sensitive skin. Unfortunately it is not as environmentally friendly as some of the eco brands.
