IGA
IGA (or the Independent Grocers of Australia) is an independent supermarket chain that has stores all across Australia. Independent retailers share benefits when they begin trading under the IGA brand name. Stores generally sell standard items available in supermarkets, such as produce, bread, meat and other household staples.
IGA is an Australian variant of the American company of the same name (although overseas it stands for Independent Grocers Alliance) and was founded in the 1920s. The IGA brand exists in forty one countries in over 4000 stores. There are three main types of IGA stores:
In some stores, IGA also sell alcohol (Queensland and Tasmanian law prohibit the sale of alcohol in a supermarket). They mainly offer a selection of wines (white, red and sparkling), spirits, pre-mixes and beers.

- Supa IGA, which aims to deliver a shopping experience identical to larger supermarket chains.
- IGA, which is the standard IGA store that caters for shoppers buying less items more regularly.
- IGA X-Press stores which is the smallest type of store. They places an emphasis on “high service”.
