How Australians shop for new clothes dryers

How Shoppers Buy Their DryersWhile utilising online resources remains a prevalent avenue to conduct research, many shoppers stick to tried and true methods when it comes to big ticket appliance purchases. We found that a little more than two in five respondents use either online research or the advice of brick and mortar retailers to decide on which clothes dryer to purchase.

According to our 2013 results, the research process wasn’t just a cursory glance through a catalogue either. Four in five shoppers research the different features of large appliances before they choose to purchase. A similar number value models with high energy ratings.

Doing research online was one thing, but 79% of shoppers still prefer to buy their clothes dryer from a physical retailer. Only 12% of respondents purchased theirs online.

It could be argued that by going in-store, customers can negotiate a better deal with the sales representative. On the other hand, online shopping usually sports exclusive deals. In any event, shoppers need to do the legwork and decide which brand is right for their home.
