Origin natural gas given five star nod with customer satisfaction award
Our recent survey results showed that one South Australian natural gas supplier was first and foremost when it came to customer satisfaction: Origin.
The well-known energy giant triumphed in these ratings, receiving five stars for overall customer satisfaction, its uninterrupted supply of gas, environmental sustainability, billing and service.
The five stars for overall satisfaction means that Origin received our most satisfied customers award for South Australian natural gas suppliers when compared against TRUenergy and AGL.
These ratings may help the 43% of respondents who told us they were unsure how to choose a natural gas supplier. It may also help nearly three quarters of respondents who did their own research to find the best utilities deal before making a decision on which supplier to choose.
Price was obviously a concern; with 41% respondents stating they were worried about their ability to pay their gas bills in the future.
Generation Y respondents were the most uncertain about how to choose the best deal and the potential consequences with 56% unaware of how to choose a gas provider, and 48% concerned about being able to pay their bills in the future.
They were also the most likely demographic to be worried about the safety of their gas supply; particularly in regards to gas leaks and house fires (35%).
Canstar Blue commissions Colmar Brunton to regularly survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from customers of natural gas suppliers within the survey group – in this case, 2274 people (178 in South Australia). To qualify, the customer must have an active gas account and regularly pay the bills. Brands must receive at least 30 responses to be included.
Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands that received three stars still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10.
Overall customer satisfaction
Origin received five stars for overall customer satisfaction in this survey of South Australian natural gas customers. TRUenergy came next with four stars for this category, and AGL followed with three.
Value for money
TRUenergy snatched a five star rating for its value for money, ahead of Origin with four and AGL with three.
Uninterrupted supply of natural gas
Customers of TRUenergy and Origin were equally satisfied with their gas company’s uninterrupted supply of gas with each brand earning five stars, while AGL received four.
Availability of payment plan options
TRUenergy achieved a five star status for the payment plan options it makes available to its customers. Origin came next with four stars, and AGL took home three.
Origin took out another five star rating, this time for customer satisfaction with their supplier’s environmental sustainability. TRUenergy received four stars for this criterion, and AGL followed with three.
Billing (e.g. billing clarity, accuracy)
Both Origin and TRUenergy received five star ratings for their billing practises, followed by four star recipient AGL.
Service (e.g. email, telephone service)
For their customer service over phone, email, internet etc., Origin received a five star rating. TRUenergy followed with four stars and AGL closed these results with three.
