Dyson achieve ‘clean sweep’ with Canstar Blue award-win
Pioneers of the bagless vacuum cleaner, Dyson, cleaned up in our customer satisfaction ratings – receiving our Most Satisfied Customers Award – Vacuum Cleaners for the second time in a row.
According to the results of our vacuum cleaner survey, Dyson excelled in the areas of overall customer satisfaction, ease of use, effectiveness of clean and size. In other results:
- Bosch received five stars for value for money, ease of use and noise.
- Miele achieved five stars for the noise level of its vacuum cleaners.
Vax, Piranha, Kambrook, Hoover, Electrolux, Volta and Sanyo were also rated.
The survey also found three in five respondents would only ever purchase a bagless vacuum cleaner. Perhaps tellingly, other customers (two in five) found the process of purchasing vacuum cleaner bags to be confusing.
Appliance longevity emerged as an important consideration for customers purchasing a vacuum cleaner. Roughly three quarters of our respondents reported they had purchased a good vacuum cleaner which lasted many years, while a quarter admitted to buying cheaper models and replacing them when they broke.
Results also showed a majority of respondents were still content to do the hard work of vacuuming minus the high tech gadgetry of 2013. Only eight percent purchased an automatic – or robotic – vacuum cleaner to replace their current model.
Canstar Blue commissions Colmar Brunton to regularly survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from customers within the survey group who have purchased a vacuum cleaner in the last three years – in this case, 1,448 people.
Brands must have received at least 30 responses to be included. Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands receiving three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10.
