Origin secures second award win in South Australia in three years
Economists are expecting utilities bills to drop in price, thanks to the abolition of the carbon tax, according to the ABC. But just because prices might go down, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t shop around for something that’s better value.
We are always surveying the Australian population throughout the year to measure customer satisfaction across a number of categories. This time, we asked South Australians what they thought about their natural gas supplier – how satisfied they were with the customer service, the supply to their home, and how satisfied they were overall.
Origin has emerged in front of two other big brands to take out our Most Satisfied Customers Award – Natural Gas Suppliers, South Australia for 2014. Next in line with four stars each for overall satisfaction are both AGL and Energy Australia.
Interestingly, Origin also won this award back in 2012, and received this award in QLD this year.
This brand stayed ahead of the competition with five stars for its billing and customer service. Additionally, it shared a five star rating with Energy Australia for their respective availability of payment plans for customers.

Canstar Blue commissioned Colmar Brunton to survey 2,695 Australian consumers across a range of categories to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from customers within the survey group who have an active gas account and regularly pay the bills – in this case, 245 South Australians.
Each brand must have received at least 30 responses in order to be included. Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands receiving three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10. Not all brands available in the market have been compared in this survey.
