Give your dishes a spotless clean by finding a five star rated dishwashing liquid brand for your kitchen.
Canstar Blue research finalised in December 2014, published in January 2015.
The average Australian who responded to our recent survey spends 22 minutes a daywashing dishes. And while more than half of our survey respondents prefer hand washing (rather than chucking dishes into a dishwasher), that’s still a significant percentage of your week – 2 and a half hours in fact – spent elbow deep in suds.
Interestingly, men spend a little longer on the job of hand washing dishes each week (3 hours) than women (2 hours and 12 minutes, approximately). Perhaps men need to increase their efficiency? Or maybe they’re simply hassled with more dishes to wash than the fairer sex.
Regardless, if you’re going to spend so much time in the sink cleaning up after yourself, you should be on the lookout for a dishwashing liquid brand that makes the task simpler and less onerous. We’ve rated these kinds of products for several years now, but have been pleasantly surprised this by our most recent award recipient: Blast Ultra Plus.
Owned by Nature’s Organics, Blast was ahead of the rated competition in a number of key areas. For one, it scored five stars for overall satisfaction, which earned the brand our award for 2014. Additionally, Blast achieved five stars for both cleaning effectiveness and smell.
We’d like to highlight two other brands that excelled in these results: ALDI Brands for its dishwashing liquid value for money, and Earth Choice for securing a top rating for environmental friendliness.
Also rated were Fairy, Trix, Morning Fresh, Palmolive, Coles Smart Buy, Coles Brands (excluding Smart Buy), Finish, Woolworths Homebrand, and Woolworths Select.
Frequently asked questions
Canstar Blue commissions Colmar Brunton to regularly survey 3,000 Australian consumers across a range of categories to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from customers within the survey group who have purchased dishwashing liquid in the last 3 months – in this case, 2,309 Australians.
Brands must have received at least 30 responses to be included. Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands receiving three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10. Not all brands available in the market have been compared in this survey. The ratings table is first sorted by star ratings and then alphabetically. A rated brand may receive a ‘N/A’ (Not Applicable) rating if it does not receive the minimum number of responses for that criteria.
