Earth Choice liquidates the competition in overall satisfaction for 2015
Laundry liquid is a pretty essential household item that’s bought by thousands of people in Australia every day – without it, our fancy washing machines would be nothing but wet tumble dryers. With over half of Aussies telling us that they always bought the same brand of laundry detergent, brands need to stand out in order to convince people to start using their product. This means excelling in areas such as value, clothing treatment, environmental friendliness and more; so how do you know which products are the best?
Having surveyed thousands of Australians on what they thought of their laundry detergent, we’ve found one brand which has left consumers the most satisfied of all. Earth Choice has improved on their strong rating last year to achieve the maximum five-star rating for overall satisfaction, winning our Most Satisfied Customers award in the process. Earth Choice scored five stars in each and every one of our rated criteria, a well-deserved clean sweep confirming it as the brand of choice for everyone who uses liquid laundry detergent. Good performances also came from Omo, Aldi’s Almat brand and Cold Power, each of which secured four-star ratings. Behind these three were Dynamo and Radiant, with both brands sitting on three-star ratings. Check out how the brands fared in each area below.
Value for money
With an off-the-shelf product like laundry liquid, price and subsequently value are big considerations – the more you get for your money, the better. It was Earth Choice who topped the scores here, followed by four-star recipient Almat and three-star recipients Omo, Cold Power, Dynamo and Radiant.
Quality of clean
A laundry liquid has to do its job well, of course, and cleaning quality is the best way of seeing how well your chosen brand performs. The coveted title of most satisfying cleaning was shared by three brands – Earth Choice, Omo and Cold Power, each of which achieved five stars. Dynamo and Radiant also did well to score four stars, whilst Almat achieved three for their cleaning quality.
Number of washes
The number of washes you get from your laundry liquid ties into the value of the product – the more washes you get, the better value your purchase was. The most concentrated and longest-lasting liquid was sold by Earth Choice with the runners-up being Omo, Cold Power and Radiant on four stars each for their washing longevity. Also on offer were Dynamo and Almat with three stars.
As their name suggests, Earth Choice is all about environmental friendliness, using non-toxic cleaning agents and containing no phosphates, enzymes or bleach; it’s biodegradable and safe for grey water use, which is why it swept the five-star rating for environmental friendliness. Other brands have been following Earth Choice’s lead, with Almat, Cold Power and Radiant all achieving strong four-star satisfaction ratings for their lack of environmental impact, whilst three-star ratings were achieved by Omo and Dynamo.
Your laundry liquid may contain some powerful cleaning agents, but that’s no reason for it not to make your clothes smell nice! The most satisfying scent was provided by Earth Choice’s liquid detergent, beating four-star achievers Omo and Radiant to the top position. Lower down on the smell scale were Almat, Cold Power and Dynamo.
Feel of clothes after washing
A quarter of our overall satisfaction rating was a result of how nice people’s washing felt after being run through the wash with a particular laundry liquid. After all, when a garment is in contact with your skin all day long, it needs to feel soft and comfortable! It seems all of our rated brands understood this well, as the field performed outstandingly well here: Earth Choice and Omo both scored five stars for clothing softness satisfaction, and every remaining brand scored four stars.
Frequently asked questions
Brands must have received at least 30 responses to be included. Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands receiving three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10. Not all brands available in the market have been compared in this survey. The ratings table is first sorted by star ratings and then alphabetically. A rated brand may receive a ‘N/A’ (Not Applicable) rating if it does not receive the minimum number of responses for that criteria.
