Most Satisfied Customers | ALDI Powerforce & Pledge
ALDI and Pledge wipe the floor with their cleaning rivals
You may not realise it, but the masonry, linoleum, ceramic or vinyl floors in your home can be a haven for dirt and bacteria – right beneath your feet. Stop for a moment and think about the areas around your shower, toilet or kitchen sink, and all the things that may have been spilt or splashed there…
It’s one of the least glamorous household chores you can expect to do, but it’s important to regularly clean your floors, especially if you have small children crawling around. When was the last time you got on your hands and knees and gave your floors a good scrubbing? The longer you put it off, the harder the job becomes.
So if you think it’s time to get down and dirty, consider our customer satisfaction ratings to help you find the best floor cleaner for your home. We asked more than a thousand adults to rate the cleaning products they most recently used. The results are in and we found Powerforce – a brand from discount supermarket chain ALDI – and Pledge to be the highest rated. While Dettol also earned a top review for effectiveness, Powerhouse and Pledge stood out from the crowd, with the ALDI brand also rated highly on value for money.
What’s in floor cleaner?
Like most household cleaning products, you can expect to find some fairly unpleasant chemicals in floor cleaner that allow it to fulfill its most basic purpose of removing dirt and grime from the floor. Ingredients will vary between brands, but as a guide, Colgate-Palmolive lists the following ingredients for its Ajax lemon floor cleaner:
- Sodium Dodecyl Benzene Sulfonate
- Alcohols, C10-12, Ethoxylated
- C12-14 Alcohol EO 2:1 Sodium Sulfate
- Citric Acid
Whatever ingredients are included in the floor cleaner you buy, always remember to read the directions and safety instructions printed on the packaging before use.
Floor cleaning satisfaction
When you buy floor cleaner, you ultimately expect it to live up to expectations and cleanse your floor of dirt, grime and stains. But it’s also reasonable to expect a product that’s easy to use and smells nice. We found the drivers of customer satisfaction to be as follows:
- Effectiveness: 43%
- Ease of use: 17%
- Scent: 16%
- Product design (ease of applying): 11%
- Environmental friendliness: 8%
- Value for money: 6%
So it seems that consumers are happy to pay a reasonable price for floor cleaner – provided it delivers when it comes to effectiveness, is easy to use, and leaves their floor smelling nice and fresh.
Frequently asked questions
Canstar Blue commissioned Colmar Brunton to survey 3,000 Australian consumers across a range of categories to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from customers within the survey group who have purchased and used a floor cleaning product in the last six months – in this case, 1,353 people.
Brands must have received at least 30 responses to be included. Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands receiving three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10. Not all brands available in the market have been compared in this survey. The ratings table is first sorted by star ratings and then alphabetically. A rated brand may receive a ‘N/A’ (Not Applicable) rating if it does not receive the minimum number of responses for that criteria.
