Award: Most Satisfied Customers in Laundry Liquid 2016

Most Satisfied Customers | ALDI Trimat

Our ratings compare the biggest laundry liquid brands in your local supermarket, and there is a clear winner. ALDI has three different laundry liquid brands and all three of them have received strong scores from the Australian public, with ALDI Trimat the top of the lot.

ALDI leads laundry liquid satisfaction

We all want our clothes to feel as fresh and new as they possibly can after they go through the wash. But how much do you really think about the laundry detergent you buy? And how many different brands have you tried in search of the best results? At Canstar Blue, we like to know which laundry liquids and powders are living up to their promises, so we commission an annual survey of Australian consumers in which we ask them to rate the brands they use, on a number of important factors.

We think the best way to really judge how effective a laundry liquid is, is to ask the people who use it. So our ratings have compared the biggest laundry liquid brands you will find in your local supermarket, and as you can see from the results table above, there is a clear winner. ALDI has three different laundry liquid brands and all three of them have received strong scores from the Australian public, with ALDI Trimat top of the lot.

In fact, ALDI has struck a winning formula with all of its laundry brands, having also topped our customer satisfaction ratings for laundry powders and fabric softener.

Quality of clean

It goes without saying that a laundry liquid must fulfil its most basic purpose of cleaning your clothes, but our ratings suggest there can be a difference between brands in how well they do that job, as only ALDI Trimat and ALDI Almat received five-star scores in this crucial area.

Feel of clothes

A quality clean is one thing, but you’ll also want your clothes to feel nice and fresh after they have been washed. Only ALDI Almat was deemed to offer five-star feeling clothes, with five other brands coming close on four stars.

Value for money

The key to customer satisfaction is effective cleaning, at a reasonable price. And when it comes to laundry liquids, ALDI has come up trumps with Trimat and Almat judged to offer great value for money.

You want your laundry liquid to clean your clothes, but you also want it to leave them smelling nice and fresh. According to our survey results, some brands have a little more work to do in the scent department. Only ALDI Trimat got five stars.

Environmental friendliness

It’s nice to know that the laundry detergent you buy has minimal impact on the environment. It’s a good point of difference if you’re trying to pick from two similar brands. Earth Choice was the standout brand in this area.

It’s no good having an awesome laundry liquid if you can’t pour it into your washing machine without spilling it everywhere. That’s why we also wanted to judge brands based on how easy they are to use. ALDI Almat was rated highest for its packaging.

Overall satisfaction

When all is said and done, consumers want laundry liquid that delivers great cleaning results and leaves clothes feeling nice afterwards. That said, we can also be a fickle bunch, as just 51% of Aussies always buy the same brand of laundry liquid, with 25% tending to buy the cheapest one available. Whatever your reasons for choosing laundry liquid, we hope our star ratings are a helpful guide.

Frequently asked questions

Canstar Blue commissioned Colmar Brunton to survey 3,000 Australian consumers across a range of categories to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from customers within the survey group who have purchased and used laundry liquid in the last three months – in this case, 1,100 people.

Brands must have received at least 30 responses to be included. Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands receiving three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10. Not all brands available in the market have been compared in this survey. The ratings table is first sorted by star ratings and then alphabetically. A rated brand may receive a ‘N/A’ (Not Applicable) rating if it does not receive the minimum number of responses for that criteria.
