ALDI remains in front for frozen veggie satisfaction
They may not be much of a meal on their own, but frozen vegetables are the perfect addition to most homecooked meals. Not only does the extra colour make meals more visually appealing, but they also taste yummy and it’s an easy way to incorporate some more of nature’s goodness into your diet. But not all frozen veggies are created equal, and you don’t always get what you had hoped for. Anyone who has ever opened a bag of mixed vegetables and found carrot to be the dominant veg – with only a handful of peas or corn thrown into the mix – will understand what we mean. So which frozen veggies offer the best bang for your buck?
To find out, Canstar Blue surveyed more than 2,000 Australian adults who have purchased and eaten frozen vegetables in the last three months, with their feedback reflected by the ratings you see above. Seven major brands received the minimum sample size required to be included in the final results – including big names and supermarket private labels – but only one scored top marks for overall satisfaction, ALDI Market Fare.
It’s the third year in a row that the ALDI brand has received five stars for overall frozen veggie satisfaction. This year it also rated five stars on packaging, taste and value for money. It rated four stars for variety.
The only other brand to score top marks was Birds Eye in the categories of packaging, taste and variety. Birds Eye achieved four stars overall, along with Logan Farm and McCain. It was three stars apiece for Heinz, Coles and Woolworths.

Canstar Blue commissioned Colmar Brunton to survey 3,000 Australian adults across a range of categories to measure and track customer satisfaction. The outcomes reported are the results from customers within the survey group who have bought and eaten frozen vegetables from a supermarket or grocer in the last 3 months – in this case, 2,143 people.
Brands must have received at least 30 responses to be included. Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands receiving three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10. Not all brands available in the market have been compared in this survey. The ratings table is first sorted by star ratings and then alphabetically. A rated brand may receive a ‘N/A’ (Not Applicable) rating if it does not receive the minimum number of responses for that criteria.
