Carbon neutral energy provider Nectr goes live in South Australia

Renewables-focussed retailer Nectr has launched in South Australia, offering customers affordable electricity prices while also doing its bit for the environment.

South Australia’s newest provider not only claims to be a cheaper alternative to some of the bigger companies, but provides plans that offset 100 per cent of carbon emissions at no extra cost.

Nectr is slinging two deals at SA residents – Friends Clean and Friends Clean Solar – both coming with fixed rates for 12 months said Managing Director of Nectr, Andrew Butler.

“We are very excited for the opportunity to offer South Australians an alternative residential electricity option. Our 100% carbon offset Nectr Friends Clean plan is extremely price-competitive, the rates are fixed for 12 months, with no hidden fees,” he said.

“We know that South Australia leads the way in transitioning to renewables. Known also for being environmentally conscious and vocal in their demand for greener and cleaner energy options at a reasonable price – launching in South Australia made perfect sense to us. There is an ideal alignment with what the State is looking to achieve and what Nectr’s philosophy is.”

At the time of publication, Friends Clean sits at 16% off the Reference Price in Adelaide, and comes with no exit fees or credit card payment surcharges. This deal has a monthly billing cycle and if referred by an existing Nectr customer, new customers will pocket a $50 credit off their second bill.

For solar customers, Nectr currently offers a feed-in tariff (FiT) in SA of 4 cents per kilowatt hour, which is below average when compared to other solar-specific plans across the state.

Established in late 2019, Nectr is a Sydney-based company which is backed by global renewables and solar giant, Hanwha Energy. Nectr also operates in New South Wales and south east Queensland where its deals feature either 100 per cent carbon neutral energy at no extra cost or 100 per cent GreenPower in exchange for slightly higher rates.

According to its Facebook page, Nectr now delivers power to more than 20,000 customers.
