ReAmped Energy reignites QLD price war with ‘handshake’ deal

The Queensland electricity price war rages on with the introduction of a competitive plan from new-kid-on-the-block, ReAmped Energy.

Originally available in NSW only, the ReAmped ‘Handshake’ deal brings its signature value to south east Queensland, but not without a few quirks.

The biggest kicker is that this plan trades off extra value under an agreement that a household will stick with ReAmped for a year. The weirdest part? There’s no lock-in contract.

ReAmped Energy CEO, Jason Donald, explains that the ‘Handshake’ label comes in trusting its customers to uphold their end of the bargain.

“Our Handshake plan offers customers better rates in exchange for their loyalty for one year. We don’t do lock-in contracts, so we take customers at their word and trust they will stay with us,” he said.

“If we do a great job, we are confident people will stay with us. If people do choose to leave, they can be assured we will not charge early-exit or cancellation fees.”

The ReAmped Handshake has emerged as the cheapest deal for south east Queensland on Canstar Blue’s database at the time of writing, bringing an impressive 18% off the Reference Price. It comes in narrowly cheaper than other recently improved offers from the likes of Click Energy and Simply Energy.

Sorry, who is ReAmped Energy?

ReAmped Energy is best known as an online-only retailer that rejects the classic tropes of electricity plans. This provider promises simple prices with no discounts or ‘head-scratching offers’. It’s also all about online customer service, so you’re out of luck if you like to call your energy retailer from time to time. Online chat and email are the order of the day at ReAmped.

Other things to know about the ReAmped Handshake plan is that it requires you to pay your power bills by direct debit and agree to online billing and communication. You will, however, receive the option to settle your bill weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

Rates are variable, so keep an eye out for any price changes.
