Queensland is the hairiest state in Australia, a new Canstar Blue survey has found.
We quizzed more than 600 adults about their shaving habits and found that Queenslanders are the least likely of all Australians to shave every day.
They are also the least likely to enjoy shaving and spend less on electric shavers than anyone else.
In addition, men in the Sunshine State are the least likely of all Australians to shave parts of their body, other than their face, the survey found.
Head of Canstar Blue, Megan Doyle, said Queenslanders are paying the price for buying cheap shavers.
“A man is only as good as his tools, and if you don’t invest in a quality shaver then the chances are you won’t enjoy shaving and will put it off for as long as possible,” she said. “Albert Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results. That seems particularly apt when talking about shaving.”
The survey, of adults who have purchased an electric shaver in the last two years, found that Queenslanders spent an average of $114 on their appliances. That compares to $125 in New South Wales, $128 in Victoria and $131 in South Australia.
Just 34% of Queenslanders said they shave every day, compared with 37% in Victoria and 42% in both Victoria and South Australia. And just one in four Queenslanders (25%) said they enjoy shaving, compared to 33% in South Australia, 34% in Victoria and 36% in New South Wales.
Of the men surveyed, only Victorians (29%) take less care sculpting their facial hair than Queensland men do (33%). That compares to 37% in both South Australia and New South Wales.
But Queensland men are comfortably the least likely to shave parts of their body, other than their face. Just 31% do this, compared with 36% in New South Wales, 37% in Victoria and 43% in South Australia.
Survey respondents were asked to rate the electric shavers they most recently purchased across a range of research categories. Only Philips earned five-star reviews for performance, ease of use, value for money and overall customer satisfaction.
