Aussie Broadband has joined the list of big Australian telcos pledging extra support during the COVID-19 pandemic, confirming it is introducing new measures such as unmetered data, easy speed upgrades, and help for customers in financial hardship.

Starting from Wednesday, 18 March 2020, Aussie Broadband will provide unmetered, unlimited data for all customers between 6am and 6pm each day. This applies to both NBN and ADSL customers on tiered data plans, including its 100GB and 500GB build-your-own plan options.

Free upgrades to NBN 25 & help for customers in hardship

With outbreak prevention likely to see increased NBN traffic,  even in quieter daytime hours, customers working from home will struggle to get by on entry-level broadband plans.  In response, Aussie Broadband will also provide extra help for customers still on Basic Evening Speed/ NBN 12 plans, allowing them to upgrade to the faster NBN 25 speed tier at no extra cost.

All Aussie Broadband customers will still have access to important network performance data through the online Network Centre and the MyAussie app, including daily traffic graphs and ping time tables.

Finally, the popular provider will also temporarily lift all service suspensions made due to late payments, allowing customers to access information and stay connected during this difficult time.

Customers who are experiencing financial hardship will continue to have access to Aussie Broadband’s range of services, including specialised payment plans.

Aussie Broadband has acknowledged that this will be a trying time for Australians transitioning to self-isolation and relying on home internet for work, study, or staying in touch with loved ones.

“I understand that many people are concerned about how the next few weeks will play out.” said managing director, Phil Britt.

“We’re keeping an eagle eye on network usage and we will upgrade as necessary if we see peaks beyond our normal high range.”

The telco has also assured customers that its Australian-based call centre will continue to operate, even if staff are required to work from home.
