Flip’s Price Beat Guarantee promises the cheapest NBN plan in Australia

You may not have heard of NBN provider Flip – but the Aussie company has frequently made our Cheapest NBN Plans page, thanks to its great value, low-cost unlimited data plans. Now, Flip has launched a new offer for budget-conscious broadband customers: find a cheaper NBN plan, and Flip will beat it by 5%!

The Flip Price Beat Guarantee is available to customers looking for unlimited monthly data on the Basic Evening Speed (NBN 12) speed tier. Currently, Flip’s unlimited Basic NBN 12 plan – known as Value 12 – is priced at $49.90 per month, not including extras such as modem costs or home phone. If you can find a cheaper NBN 12 plan with unlimited monthly gigabytes, Flip will beat the advertised price by 5% per month.

Flip’s Price Beat Guarantee: how it works

Of course, the offer does come with conditions. The 5% price slash only applies to NBN plans with a cheaper standard monthly price: this means that limited-time promo deals and time-sensitive discounts are excluded. The Price Beat Guarantee also only applies to general advertised prices, not specialised or personalised offers made directly to a customer by a service provider. Finally, customers should keep in mind that this offer also excludes extra costs, such as setup fees, modem prices, or home phone charges.

For example, if you do find a cheaper price, but it only applies for your first six months, you won’t be able to claim the 5% price cut from Flip. And the same exemptions apply if your telco personally offers you a heavy discount in order to entice you to stay or re-contract, or offers a 500GB plan at a lower price: Flip’s Price Beat Guarantee is only available for standard, advertised monthly prices, and only for NBN plans with unlimited monthly data.

Even without a lucrative price beat offer, Flip’s plans are highly competitive – and if there’s a provider out there with a cheaper standard NBN 12 option, we haven’t yet found it. Flip’s $49.90 plan is already one of the best-value basic NBN deals on the market, beating out big-name competitors such as TPG and iiNet on price (as shown in the below table).

If you do happen to spot a cheaper NBN deal, claiming your 5% discount is simple. Simply take a photo or screenshot of the advertised competitor (or attach a link to the deal), send it to Flip via email or attach it to the online Flip sign-up form, and wait for your claim to be approved. If the deal meets the conditions of Flip’s Price Beat Guarantee, you’ll qualify for Flip’s Value 12 plan, priced at 5% cheaper than your submitted NBN 12 offer.

Why try Flip?

Flip offers three NBN speed tiers, all on 12-month or no-lock-in contract terms. Value 12 is offered on the Basic Evening Speed (NBN 12) speed tier, with typical evening download speeds of 10Mbps; you can also sign up for Standard Plus Evening Speed (NBN 50, typical evening speed of 43Mbps) or Premium Evening Speed (NBN 100, typical evening speed 82Mbps) plans.

If you do opt for the faster NBN 50 plan, be aware that you’ll pay extra per month to go contract-free. A 12-month Family 50 plan costs $64.90 per month, but the month-to-month option is priced at $69.90. The same applies to Flip’s NBN 100 plan: you’ll pay $99.90 per month on a 12-month contract, and $109.90 month-to-month. If you opt to purchase a pre-configured NBN modem, you’ll pay an additional $149 upfront; however, Flip imposes no mandatory setup costs on NBN customers.

In addition to NBN plans and home phone, Flip also offers a range of international IPTV packages and channels. Packs include channels from Chile/South America, Croatia, Bosnia, Japan, Macedonia, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, and Vietnam, and Flip’s set-top box includes access to 35 free-to-air Aussie channels. The Flip box also provides access to apps, 24-hour rewind, replay TV, and more.
