In some good news for fans of prepaid, Boost Mobile has just overhauled its plans, offering a very generous data increase across its whole range. The telco market is a competitive one, and with more providers offering incentives to win over your business, Boost’s plan changes are another win-win for customers looking for a good deal.
Giving data and international calls a boost
All six prepaid plans have received additional data: from the 7-day $10 plan, which jumps from 1.5GB up to 3GB, to the $70 plan (jumping from 52GB to a very generous 65GB). If that wasn’t enough, Boost Mobile is also giving customers 15GB of bonus data on your first five recharges on selected plans. To take advantage of this generous bonus data, you’ll need to purchase a plan and activate your first recharge before 13 May, 2019, then activate your remaining four recharges by 2 September, 2019.
Not only has Boost given a serious bump to its data inclusions, but international call and SMS value has also had a big shake up. Both the $10 and $20 Boost plans now include international call value (where there was previously no allowance), which includes unlimited standard international calls and SMS to 20 countries, and 100 standard minutes and SMS to 25 countries.
These same inclusions are available on the $30 plan, while the $40 and $50 plans now include unlimited standard calls and SMS to 25 countries, plus 200 international minutes and SMS to 30 countries. The $70 plan is the most generous, with unlimited standard calls and SMS to 30 countries, plus 300 standard minutes and SMS to 25 countries.
Introducing new long-term prepaid plans
While all of this is great news for fans of Boost’s prepaid plans, it gets even better. The telco has also launched a new range of long-term prepaid plans, which run over six months and 12 months. These plans are essentially a way of bulk-buying your recharges upfront, but you will need to ration out your inclusions to make sure they last over the plan period.
“The option for customers to bulk buy with our new plans, means customers can set and forget, and be rewarded with increased value without having to worry about recharging and have more time to do the things they love.” said Jason Haynes, General Manager at Boost Mobile.
So just what can you get from these bulk-buy prepaid plans? On the six-month plans, you can choose between $100 or $200 plans. The $100 Boost plan gets you 60GB of data, unlimited standard national calls and SMS, unlimited international calls and SMS to 20 countries, and 600 minutes and SMS to 35 countries. For $200 you’ll get 150GB of data, unlimited standard national calls and SMS, unlimited calls and SMS to 25 countries, plus 1200 minutes and SMS to 30 select countries.
If the thought of pre-paying a year’s worth of phone plans sounds ideal to you, you have two options for the 12-month plans. Starting at $150 you’ll get 80GB of data, plus unlimited standard national calls and SMS, unlimited calls and SMS to 25 select countries, plus 1200 minutes of calls and SMS to 30 destinations. For $300 you’ll have access to 240GB of data over 12 months —which works out to be 20GB a month— along with unlimited standard national calls and SMS, unlimited calls and SMS to 30 countries, plus 3600 minutes and SMS to 25 countries.
While you can definitely save over 12 months and get some generous inclusions, you’ll need to watch your usage to ensure you spread it out over 12 months. If you tend to go up and down with your monthly data use, you might find that these 12-month plans are the right solution for you.
Boost Mobile has established itself as a great telco for younger Aussies, and for international visitors looking for value for money and easy-to-understand plans on the Telstra network. These new plans and updated inclusions certainly cement Boost Mobile as a great telco for not just younger Australians, but for anyone looking for good value for money in a prepaid phone plan.
