The US shopping tradition of Black Friday is fast becoming one of the hottest retail days in Australia – so if you’re looking for a great deal on a new mobile plan or device, now’s the time to lock in a bargain.
In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Black Friday deal, popular provider Boost Mobile is offering 50% off selected prepaid SIM packs, as well as half-price specials on three prepaid phones. All of the offers are available today and tomorrow, and are outlined below.
50% off SIM packs
Boost Mobile has cut prices for its $30 and $40 prepaid SIM cards in half – offering the Large $30 pack for $15, and the Extra Large $40 option for just $20. This discount only applies to your initial Anytime Plus plan SIM purchase, with subsequent recharges reverting to the full $30 or $40 price: however, you will receive some excellent bonus data inclusions.
As we’ve previously reported, Boost Mobile is offering 23GB of bonus data on your first five recharges on eligible Anytime Plus prepaid plans. Customers on the $30, $40, $50 and $70 plans will score an extra 23GB with each recharge, for up to five recharges; to qualify, you’ll need to activate or swap to an included Boost Anytime Plus plan, and make your first recharge by 25 February, 2019.
This means data will jump from 12GB to 35GB on the $30 plan; from 22GB to 45GB on the $40 plan; from 32GB to 55GB on the $50 option; and from 52GB, to a huge 75GB, on Boost Mobile’s $70 plan. All four plans also include unlimited standard national talk and text, plus unlimited international calls to up to 20 countries. In addition, Boost Mobile customers will receive data-free music streaming from Apple Music, plus data rollover on plans of $30 and up.
50% off prepaid phones
If you need a new device to pair with Boost Mobile’s SIM-only plans, the telco has also dropped prices on three prepaid smartphones:
- Alcatel U3 3G: was $59, now $29.50 (3G-only phone)
- The REO: was $89, now $44.50
- Zume 5: was $69, now $34.50
All three devices feature a 5-megapixel rear camera (and 2-megapixels in front), run on Android, and include all the day-to-day features you’d expect in a low-cost smartphone. Customers should keep in mind that the Alcatel U3 is a 3G-only device, so users won’t be able to access 4G services (which are available to Boost Mobile customers on Telstra’s 4G network).
Overall, if you’re searching for an easy, no-contract prepaid deal (or an affordable prepaid phone, without the bells and whistles), Boost Mobile’s Black Friday sale is a great time to make the switch. But don’t delay: all offers end at midnight, 23 November.
Black Friday deals don’t end there – Kogan is also cutting prices on gadgets, televisions, headphones, and much, much more. Plus, Black Friday means you can save hundreds on Dyson fans, vacuum cleaners, Miele dishwashers, and assorted appliances if you know where to shop.
