After yet another fall from grace (first heaven, then the Fox network – when will he catch a break?), Lucifer is back among the mortals, all thanks to the almighty Netflix (hallelujah!).
Season three left us with a massive cliff-hanger, and fans around the world were outraged to hear that Fox was canning the supernatural show starring Tom Ellis. Much like the saga with Brooklyn Nine-Nine, fans, cast members and even the creator of the original comic book character rallied and campaigned across social media with hashtags such as #SaveLucifer and #PickUpLucifer that trended worldwide for days.
Like a knight in shining armour, Netflix has once again saved the day by picking up Lucifer for season four – which will be dropping on the streaming platform on May 8.

What is Lucifer?
If you’re unfamiliar with the show (or are a fan simply reading this for some season four hype), Lucifer is a supernatural drama with just the perfect dash of dry humour. The show follows Lucifer Morningstar, a fallen angel (who may be better known as the Devil himself) who is bored with his life in Hell. He decides to do what many have done before him – pack up and move to Los Angeles. And it’s in L.A where Lucifer witnesses a brutal murder of a pop star, and meets the beautiful LAPD homicide detective Chloe (played by Lauren German) who quickly warms his heart in a way that Hell never could. He starts to work with the LAPD as a consultant, and finds out where his knack for getting people to reveal their deepest and darkest desires comes in handy (ours has already been fulfilled, thanks Netflix).
If you’re still having trouble keeping up, Tom Ellis himself has prepared a little treat for us all as he explains the previous three seasons in a video released by the official Lucifer account.

What can we expect in season four?
Now that Lucifer has officially risen from the ashes of a modern-day hell (aka network cancellation) and back to our screens, there’s a lot to look forward to in season four. The last time we saw our old buddy was at the end of season three as he revealed to Chloe (team #Chlucifer) his true devil face. Season four promises to explore her reaction and a supposed “journey” she will be undertaking.
There also will be some new characters, with Prison Break’s Inbar Lavi joining the cast as ‘Eve’, who is bored of her first love Adam (yes, they are the Adam and Eve) and comes looking for Lucifer.
