Bust out the tequila, the new season of Narcos is here.
After the last three seasons of the popular Netflix Original series saw the rise – and fall – of Pablo Escobar and his Colombian drug cartel, the latest season shifts the focus to Mexico and the rise of the Guadalajara Cartel.
Production of the latest season began late 2017, with the official announcement of Narcos: Mexico in July this year, with showrunners claiming they were “resetting” the series to allow an exploration of the drug trade of other south American countries.
Set in the 1980s, Narcos: Mexico will follow the dealings of cartel leader Félix Gallardo, played by Diego Luna (Rogue One), and DEA agent Kiki Camarena, played by Michael Peña (CHiPs, Ant-Man), as the cartel looks to expand its hold of the drug trade between South America and the United States.
Viewers can expect similar themes to the original Narcos series, including shady deals, era-appropriate clothes and music, as well as drugs – lots of drugs. And not a little violence!
Fans will also be treated to some familiar faces as the Guadalajara Cartel seeks to expand its operations, with a helping hand from both the Medellin and Cali cartels.
Set to be released worldwide on November 16, there are 10 episodes to binge – all about an hour long – meaning you still have time to cancel your plans for the weekend.
The official trailer was released via Netflix’s official YouTube channel last month.
