Nomadland was the big winner at the 2021 Academy Awards, taking out three Oscars; Best Picture, Best Actress and Best Director. Telling the story of a woman who, down on her luck after the Great Recession, takes to the road in her van, living the life of a wandering nomad. The film is notable not only for its historic directors’ win (with director Chloe Zhao the first Asian woman to win the award), but also for recruiting a cast largely made up of real-life American nomads, making it a work of half-story, half-truth. The film experienced lots of love from critics, who relished not only the poetic narrative, but also the stunning shots of the wide American landscape. But where can you catch Nomadland in Australia?
