About Holden SUVs and 4WDs
Holden was founded in Australia in 1856 as a horse saddle manufacturer. In 1908, it moved into automobile manufacturing and quickly became an Australian icon, producing many popular vehicles over the years, such as the Commodore, Caprice and Holden Utes.
In December 2013, Holden announced it will be shifting its manufacturing operations overseas by the end of 2017 due to losses incurred by the strengthening Australian dollar and reductions in government grants. Holden says it intends to keep a strong presence in the Australian market despite shifting its base operation.
