A guide to Jeep cars in Australia
Jeep is an iconic brand that has become somewhat synonymous with fun and adventure. While its vehicles are most famous for their unmatched off-road capabilities, there’s a lot more to Jeep than many people may realise.
In this article, Canstar Blue takes you through the Jeep vehicles sold in Australia. We take a close look at the price and features of the following vehicles:
- Jeep Cherokee
- Jeep Grand Cherokee
- Jeep Renegade
- Jeep Wrangler
- Jeep Compass
Jeep Cherokee
Kicking off the list with a touch of class, the Jeep Cherokee is a sleek and stylish SUV both inside and out. It has fluid-hugging seats, digital dashboard with performance and status animations, keyless entry and start, a huge 8.4” navigation touchscreen, and steering wheel-mounted phone and audio controls.
Depending on the model, the Jeep Cherokee has either a 2.4L Tigershark engine with 9-speed auto, or the powerful 3.2L Pentastar V6 engine with 9-speed auto. These vehicles utilise Jeep’s intelligent Active Drive 4×4 system and is equipped with Selec-Terrain, a traction control system with up to five customised settings: Auto, snow, sport, sand/mud and rock.
There are five models of Jeep Cherokee: Sport (pictured), Longtitude, Limited, Trailhawk and Blackhawk.

Jeep Grand Cherokee
This vehicle is much like the Jeep Cherokee, only grander. The Grand Cherokee takes all the great features of the Cherokee and expands upon it with a much more powerful V6 engine, an elegant leather interior, and improved instruments and displays.
Once again, there are five models of Jeep Grand Cherokee: Laredo 4×2, Laredo (pictured), Limited, Trailhawk and Overland.

The Grand Cherokee comes at a Grand price. According to the Jeep website, the cheapest Grand Cherokee is the Petrol V6 Laredo 4×2 model, costing around $48,000 to $50,000. The subsequent models are increasingly expensive, with the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland capping the range at around $88,000-90,000. The Laredo, Limited and Blackhawk Grand Cherokees come with either a petrol or diesel engine. The petrol engine is on average around $8,000 cheaper than the diesel engine.
Jeep Renegade
The Jeep Renegade is a balanced vehicle, combining the style and comfort of the Jeep’s Cherokee vehicles, with the handling and capability of its famous Jeep Wrangler. Depending on the model, the Jeep Renegade comes equipped with a 1.4L MultiAir Turbo Engine or a 2.4L Tigershark engine. It also includes a tonne of features such as personalised instrument cluster, dual-zone climate air conditioning, steering wheel controls, heated front seats, reverse camera, blind spot monitor, collision warning and more (depending on the model).

Jeep Renegade Price
The cheapest Jeep Renegade is the Sport model, pricing between $31,000 and $35,000, depending on the type of transmission. The Longitude and Limited models are slightly more expensive – about $34,000 to $40,000. The Trailhawk rounds out the list at about $43,000.
Jeep Wrangler
When you think of Jeep, this vehicle is probably what first comes to mind. Unlike most vehicles these days, the Wrangler doesn’t care much for the latest in technology and features. Rather, its focus is on safety and sheer off-road capability. This 2-door beast packs Jeep’s 3.6L Pentastar 3.6L V6 Engine with 209kW of power and 347 N.m of torque. The downside to this is that it’s a bit of fuel guzzler at 11.4L/100km.
When it comes to rough terrain, if the Jeep Wrangler can’t handle it, then probably no other car could either. It has a 223 ground clearance and 35-degree approach angle, not to mention its innovative Command-Trac 4WD technology to insure equally distributed power. There are two models of Jeep Wrangler: The Sport (pictured) and Overland.

Jeep Wrangler price
The Jeep Wrangler Sport costs around $45,000 to $50,000, while the Jeep Wrangler Overland prices around the $53,000-$55,000 mark.
Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
This is very similar to the Jeep Wrangler above. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited however is a 4-door model, while the standard Jeep Wrangler is 2-door. Another difference is that the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited comes with a choice of two engines depending on the model: The Pentastar 3.6L V6 (same as standard Wrangler), or the 2.8L DOHC Common-Rail Diesel, with less power (147kW), but higher torque (460N.m) for improved responsiveness and fuel efficiency.
There are three models of Jeep Wrangler Unlimited: Sport (pictured), Overland and Rubicon.

Jeep Warranty
Jeep is so confident in its vehicles, it has increased its standard manufacturer’s warranty from 3 years to 5 years. To sweeten the deal, this warranty is fully transferable. Jeep vehicles also come with 5 years capped price servicing and Lifetime Roadside Assist when you service through Jeep.
