Dyson’s vacuums have amassed a cult following thanks to their high-quality performance and slick accessories. But that popularity comes with a hefty price tag, with models typically selling for $599 to $1,649
Bargain hunters are in for a treat though as Dyson has cut the price of its V8 Absolute cordless stick vacuum to $449. That’s a 55% discount from its usual $999 price tag.
V8 Absolute stick vacuum features
- 40 minutes run time: On Powerful mode. Full charge in five hours.
- Two power modes: Powerful mode for standard cleaning and MAX mode for extra suction.
- One touch barrel emptying: Eject the barrel contents into your bin with one button.
- 2.5kg weight: The third lightest Dyson stick vacuum following the PencilVac and V9.
- HEPA filtration: Captures 99.99% of particles including pollen, dust, bacteria and viruses.
Here’s the catch: Dyson hasn’t listed an end date for the sale on its website, so you may need to be quick if you’re keen to take advantage of the offer.
Keep in mind that Dyson has a price match promise. If you find a Dyson product on sale for a lower price by a national retailer (like Harvey Norman or JB Hi-Fi), they’ll match it. Make sure you’re getting the best deal by checking the V8 Absolute price at other stores.
Is a Dyson vacuum cleaner worth the price tag?
Dyson is renowned for its quality and its technology but other brands also deliver top performance, often with a much smaller price tag.
For example, LG (which won Canstar Blue’s best-rated stick vacuum award for 2025) and Samsung both offer vacuums with features similar to the V8 Absolute, and often retail for less.
Kogan has a stick vacuum with 60 minutes run time, that’s 20 minutes longer than the Dyson, for $299.
The best advice? Be sure to shop around to make sure you get the specifications you want within your budget.
