ALDI launches nationwide grocery delivery

Fact Checked Fact Checked

ALDI has officially gone all in on its partnership with DoorDash, enabling customers in nearly every Australian state to order groceries online and have them delivered straight to their doorsteps. The rollout now covers most ALDI locations in Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales, and provides over 1,800 products, including fresh fruit and veggies, meat and seafood, dairy, bread, and everyday household essentials.

“Our partnership with DoorDash is a game changer,’ said Simon Padovani-Ginies, Group Director at ALDI Australia. “Shoppers can get their hands on ALDI’s exclusive range of top-notch products at everyday low prices at the click of a button.”

DoorDash Australia’s Vice President APAC, Simon Rossi, added that the partnership with ALDI is “all about delivering our customers greater convenience, choice and value. ALDI’s much-loved exclusive and value-driven range combined with DoorDash’s reliable, on-demand delivery technology means shoppers around the country don’t have to go too long between ALDI shops.”

Since the service’s trial launch in Canberra earlier this year, Australians have been quick to leverage the service for everyday essentials; fresh produce, milk, and eggs feature in about 25% of all ALDI orders on DoorDash nationally. According to DoorDash data, approximately a third of all orders are placed on the weekend.

What this means for Australian households

To give shoppers a clearer picture of potential savings, the table below compares average weekly grocery bills and delivery costs across ALDI, Coles and Woolworths. It highlights how choosing ALDI—even with delivery fees via DoorDash—can impact your overall grocery spend over a year.

Coles $190 $0 – $15 $0 – $780 +$624 +$676
Woolworths $191 $0 – $15 $0 – $780 +$676 +$624

Note: Delivery fees for ALDI are based on DoorDash charges, which can vary depending on location and order size. Coles and Woolworths offer free delivery for orders over $250 or with a subscription service. Standard delivery fees range from $0 to $15, depending on the supermarket’s policies and subscription status.

ALDI Australia was recognised as the Best-Rated Supermarket Brand in Canstar Blue’s Most Satisfied Customers Award for the eighth consecutive year in 2025, consistently earning high marks for value, quality and overall satisfaction. This streak highlights ALDI’s focus on giving Australians a shopping experience that combines affordability with quality.

While ALDI holds around 9% of the Australian grocery market, it continues to challenge the dominant duopoly of Woolworths and Coles (which control nearly 80% of the sector). By offering smart pricing, quality products, and a customer-first approach, ALDI is proving that shoppers have a strong alternative to Australia’s supermarket giants.
