A steep price tag isn’t enough to deter parents from getting the best for their child, as almost one quarter of Aussies are forking out over $600 for their baby’s new stroller.
According to our recent survey, Generation Y respondents are even more likely to splurge on prams with just under one third paying top dollar for their unit.
While they have no problem paying big bucks for strollers, Gen Y respondents are also more likely to pick up a second hand product rather than buy a new one.
Parents on the lookout for a five star product should look no further than Maclaren. The British stroller manufacturer received a five star rating for overall satisfaction, safety, compactness and weight for their products, and also received our most satisfied customers award for strollers.
Other stroller brands rated were Mothercare, Steelcraft, Babylove, Valco and Love N Care.
Mothercare is the pram of choice for thrifty buyers, with a five star rating for price. Mothercare also beat out the competition for flexibility – making it a good choice for mums and dads on the go.
Interestingly, buying prams online is becoming an accepted avenue for purchasing products with ease, as 15% of respondents chose to purchase their product this way.
But the big surprise comes from Aussie men, who are spending a great deal on pram purchases. Twenty seven percent of male respondents spent more than $600 on a stroller compared with 22% of females.
Canstar Blue commissions Colmar Brunton to survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories every few months to measure and track customer satisfaction. Outcomes reported are the results from those within the survey group who have purchased a stroller in the last three years.
Results are comparative and it should be noted that brands that received three stars have still achieved a satisfaction measure of at least six out of 10.
Overall
Maclaren take away five stars for overall customer satisfaction with their products, and there are plenty of four star winners too. Mothercare, Steelcraft, Babylove and Valco all received four stars, while Love N Care received three.
Price
Mothercare has the most satisfied customers when it comes to pricing and have received five stars in this category. Steelcraft, Babylove, Valco and Love N Care all received four stars for pricing, while Maclaren received three.
Safety
The safety of a child is of huge concern to parents everywhere, and both Mothercare and Maclaren have scored big in this category with a five star rating each for safety. Both Steelcraft and Valco received four stars for safety while Babylove and Love N Care received three.
Flexibility
Mothercare’s customers are the most satisfied with the flexibility of their pram. Maclaren, Steelcraft, Babylove and Valco all received four stars, while Love N Care received three.
Compactness
A compact pram is ideal for folding up for storage, and fitting into the back of a car. Maclaren win five stars for the most satisfied customers for compactness, while Mothercare, Steelcraft and Babylove follow close behind with four. Valco and Love N Care both received three stars for the compactness of their products.
Weight
Maclaren scores five stars for weight while Mothercare, Steelcraft and Babylove all follow closely with four stars. Both Valco and Love N Care received three stars for weight.
Storage compartments
What’s better than a pram with one pocket? A pram with lots of pockets! Mothercare takes the cake with a five star rating for storage compartments that can hold diapers, bottles or toys, or even your iPod. Maclaren, Steelcraft, Babylove and Valco all received four stars in this category while Love N Care received three.
Warranty
Mothercare win again for a five star warranty, as Maclaren, Steelcraft and Valco follow closely with four stars each. Both Babylove and Love N Care received three stars for this category.
