How we rate Aussie Escapes

Our review compares Aussie Escapes on customer satisfaction, so you can find out what other Aussies think about the compared brands before you go ahead with a purchase. Think of it as like asking hundreds of your closest mates which Aussie Escape they think is best!

Canstar Blue surveyed 1,222 Australians who have visited an Australian major city or region for a holiday or break in the last three years. Note: they must have spent at least two nights at the location.

  • The outcomes reported in these ratings are measured via accredited research panels managed by Qualtrics.

Respondents rate their satisfaction with their Aussie Escape location(s) from zero to ten, where zero is extremely dissatisfied and ten is extremely satisfied. Brand satisfaction was rated by respondents on the following criteria:
  • Overall satisfaction: measures consumer satisfaction with an Aussie Escape location as an individual score NOT a combined total of all criteria.
  • Atmosphere/people & culture: the city or region was an enjoyable place to visit, and felt safe and friendly to visit.
  • Value for money: the cost is reasonable for the quality and enjoyment of the city or region.
  • Food & beverage: there was a wide range of food and beverage options available to choose from, with multiple budgets and food needs catered for, with outlets serving quality meals and drinks.
  • Accommodation: there was a wide range of accommodation options, styles and price ranges available to stay at, with flexible arrangements available.
  • Ease of getting around: there was a wide range of affordable, reliable transport options, with attractions within reasonable walking distance.
  • Events/attractions/nightlife: there was a range of events, attractions and nightlife options available, catering to multiple tastes and budgets.
  • Shopping: there was a wide range of retail outlets readily available, including popular and niche stores and brands, catering to a variety of styles and budgets.

The winning brand is the one that receives the highest Overall satisfaction rating once all the scores from the Overall satisfaction criteria are combined and averaged.

  • Overall satisfaction is asked as a specific question and represents an individual measure, not a combined total of all criteria.
  • When we cannot determine a clear winner from the criteria for the Overall satisfaction rating, we will then look at the other criteria measured in the rating.
    • The brand with the highest number of five-star ratings within the supporting criteria will become the five-star recipient in overall satisfaction, and thus win the award. If a clear leader still cannot be determined from the supporting criteria, joint winners will be declared.

Locations must have received at least 30 responses to be included, so not all locations available in the market have been compared in this survey. The locations rated in this survey are listed below in order of best overall satisfaction.

Top Aussie Escape Location – Hobart

Hobart Docks - Image

From 1830s Georgian warehouses in Salamanca Place, to world-class gourmet restaurants on Elizabeth Street, Hobart has a little bit of everything for everyone. Wander through quaint little cottages on Kelly Street in Hobart’s historic Battery Point village, or take a ferry up to the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA). Trek up Mount Wellington for picturesque views of the city, and admire the waterways that supply fresh drinking water to the world.

If the weather isn’t great, you can still enjoy panoramic views of Hobart and Bruny Island from the suburbs of Mount Nelson. The Mount Nelson Signal Station opened in 1811 and was the first of many signal stations connecting Hobart Town to Port Arthur. It’s also close to Truganini Reserve, which boasts 130 hectares of protected native bushland, allowing you to fully envelop yourself in nature.

  • Hobart was rated five stars for atmosphere/people & culture, value for money, food & beverage, accommodation, ease of getting around and overall satisfaction, with four stars for events/attractions/nightlife, and three stars for shopping.
