About Swoop Mobile plans
Swoop originally launched as a wireless broadband service, but has since expanded to include NBN plans and, as of 2023, SIM-only mobile plans. Swoop offers four mobile plans, all of which include unlimited standard national talk and text, varied data allowances, data banking from 200GB and 5G access with a compatible device. All plans run on a monthly basis..
Swoop’s mobile plans offer lower prices when compared to the major telcos and feature a range of big data allowances, starting from 30GB of data each month.
Swoop currently doesn’t offer any international roaming options for those looking to use their device overseas. However, the telco does offer $400 of international talk and text credit on its most expensive plan, which can be used to talk to people in any country in the world.
Which mobile network does Swoop Mobile use?
Swoop Mobile uses the Optus 4G and 5G networks which cover 98.5% of all Australians. 5G access is available on all plans that Swoop offers, but download speeds are capped at 100Mbps.

Yes, customers have the option to port their existing mobile number over to their new Swoop plan or request a new number. You can find more information on how Swoop transfers phone numbers on the Swoop website.
Swoop review: Are Swoop plans worth signing up to?
Swoop’s mobile plans are generally mid-priced when compared to the very cheapest brands, but do offer good value for larger data allowances, coming to less than $1 per GB of data for all plans. Having access to Optus’ 5G network on all plans is another bonus, although download speeds are capped at 100Mbps. But for those wanting international talk and text credit on a cheaper plan or international roaming packages, Swoop may not be the mobile provider for you.
If you’re looking for a cheap SIM-only plan with a smaller data inclusion or 5G access doesn’t matter, you’ll want to compare plans from a wider range of providers to find a plan better suited to your budget and needs.
