Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7
The Galaxy Z Fold is the premium, best-of-the-best folding option in Samsung’s 2025 line-up, offering AI-enhanced features designed for intuitive everyday use. If easy productivity and effortless multitasking are important to you, the Fold 7 and its integrated Galaxy AI magic has you covered.
Samsung has kept the general design when compared to the Z Fold 6, with one major change: the Fold 7 is surprisingly thin. With a width of just 8.9mm when folded, and a weight of 215 grams, Samsung has given its flagship foldable a big dose of Ozempic to deliver a lightweight, pocket-friendly device. The phone is made strong with Corning Gorilla Glass on the front and back, plus a Armour Aluminium frame and a smoother hinge along the fold.
The Z Fold 7’s main display measures in at 8 inches, with around 11% more screen real estate than last year’s Fold. You’ll get a fast 120Hz refresh rate for quick scrolling, plus Vision Booster tech and up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness in sunlight. When closed, you’ll still be able to access apps, games, media and notifications through the 6.5-inch cover display.
The hero feature across most high-end phones in 2025 is, of course, AI. Samsung’s Galaxy AI and integrated Gemini Live assistance works alongside the Fold 7’s big display to simplify both work and home activities, and offers some of the following one-tap tools:
- Now Brief: A personalised and up-to-date daily briefing, outlining and recapping each morning and evening.
- Transcript Assist: Easy note-taking, including translation, summaries, formatting and transcribing of voice recordings.
- Writing Assist: Generates text based on simple keywords for emails, social media and messages.
- Circle to Search: Circle, highlight or tap on the screen to offer instant search results, even in images and videos.
- Interpreter and Live Translate: Real-time text translations on the main and cover screens between two parties, as well as instant real-time voice call translation.
You’ll also be able to activate and talk to Gemini hands-free about anything you need answers on, both on the web and in apps: ask for advice, information or ideas, or use the camera to give Gemini a visual prompt.
The Fold is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, featuring lightning-speed processing that’s around 38% faster compared to the previous Galaxy Z Fold. The Snapdragon chip is optimised for gaming and for better AI, with a 26% improvement in graphics smoothness.

Samsung has again packed in a triple rear camera setup, with a big 200-megapixel main wide-angle camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera. The improved sensors in the camera’s lineup, along with Samsung’s ProVisual Engine, offer higher resolution, better contrast in all lighting conditions, and true-to-life colours and skin tones. You’ll get high-quality 30x digital zoom for far-away pics, as well as macro and close-up options to capture the smallest details.
The Fold’s camera hardware works in tandem with its AI features to deliver more editing options on your device. Some of Galaxy AI’s key Photo Assist tools include:
- Side-by-Side Editing: Real-time comparison of original and edited images on the large display.
- Generative Edit: Remove or change components from photos, including across multiple devices.
- Audio Eraser: Removes background noise in videos.
Samsung is also promising its Fold will show a noticeably improved battery life, with up to 24 hours playback available per charge from the 4,400 mAh battery. As with other Fold models, the 7 is compatible will fast wireless and wired charging, as well as Power Share reverse charging.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 features Android 16 and Samsung’s One UI, and is locked down by Samsung Knox security. The phone will come with seven years of security updates, plus seven generations of guaranteed Android upgrades. As with all premium Samsung phones, it’s also 5G-ready, features dual SIM and eSIM compatibility and offers IP48 water and dust protection.
Unfortunately, the newest Galaxy Z Fold does come with one negative change: this device won’t support Samsung’s S Pen stylus. Customers who love the easy note-taking and doodling capability of a stylus-ready phone may prefer to stick with the Google Z Fold 6 for now, or hope that the S Pen makes a return in 2026.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7
If you’re keen on something a little more compact, but still power-packed, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is the brand’s latest on-trend clamshell-style device. Offering all the fan-fave features of the Galaxy Z Flip 6, this gen of Flip comes with a better cover display, improved camera and a lower-priced spin-off (more on that below).
The Z Flip 7 includes a big 6.9-inch main display, with a fast 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness. The front FlexWindow screen is the brightest and biggest yet on a Flip phone, measuring in at 4.1 inches with edge-to-edge viewing. You can use the front display to access essential apps and quick at-a-glance details, with the screen itself including plenty of customisation options such as wallpaper, weather and animations.
Like the bigger Fold, the Flip is crafted from Armor Aluminium, with a strong FlexHinge and Corning Gorilla Glass on the front and back. It’s thin but tough, and comes with IP48 water and dust protection, so your phone can withstand submersion in up to 1.5 metres of fresh water for up to 30 minutes.

Inside, Samsung has included an Exynos 2500 processor, again offering improvements over the previous generation of Flip in speed, graphics and AI performance. The chipset powers the Flip 7’s Galaxy AI features, including the daily Now Brief, as well as the Now Bar which offers fast, instantly updated notifications and details directly on your cover screen.
That cover screen can also be used for fun, hands-free selfies, thanks to the 10-megapixel front camera with FlexWindow previewing and filtering. Open the phone and you’ll get a 50-megapixel wide and 12-megapixel ultra-wide rear camera duo, all powered by Samsung’s ProVisual Engine for crisp, detailed photos and portraits.
Like the Fold, the Flip 7 also comes with updated Gemini Live access, so you’ll be able to use both the camera and your voice to get fast real-time information. Your data is protected by Samsung’s Knox security platform, and the Flip comes with Android 16 and One UI 8 out of the box with seven years or generations of upgrades.
Wrapping up the Flip’s most important features, Samsung has upgraded the battery with a big 4,300 mAh capacity and up to 31 hours of video playback per full charge. The phone is also compatible with wireless and wired fast charging, and reverse charging through Samsung’s PowerShare.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE
2025 sees the addition of a brand-new foldable to the Galaxy family: the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. Similar to other ‘Fan Edition’ versions of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy phones, the Flip 7 FE packs in must-have specs and features, but at starting price that’s $300 cheaper.
Flip 7 FE buyers will get the same clamshell design, with a bright 6.7-inch main display. However, there is a noticeable difference in the smaller 3.4-inch Flex cover display, with the FE featuring bigger bezels and an overall design more reminiscent of last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 6.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE also features the previous-gen Exynos 2400 — still a fast and efficient processor, but not quite as powerful as the standard Flip 7’s Exynos 2500. Flip 7 FE owners will also get a slightly smaller battery at 4,000 mAh.
Camera-wise, the Z Flip FE comes with a main 50-megapixel wide lens and 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens in the rear, plus a 10-megapixel front lens. The FE includes the same photo-enhancing options as the main Flip, including hands-free FlexCam activation and ProVisual Engine power.
The good news is that Flip FE users will get all the cutting-edge Galaxy AI features, such as the Now Brief and Now Bar, as well as Gemini Live. The FE also includes Android 16 with One UI 8 and Samsung’s Knox security, plus seven years of updates and upgrades.
