OPPO A78 5G phones in blue and black

OPPO’s latest cheap phone is here — the stunning A78 5G

Proving that price shouldn’t be a barrier to the latest technologies, OPPO has released its newest budget-friendly device in its A series — the A78 5G.

OPPO has carried a reputation for packing quality technology into more affordable phones than its competitors, and the OPPO A78 5G is the latest in a string of devices with this focus.

“The A78 5G is OPPO’s latest entry-level game changer. We’ve designed a device that seamlessly combines cutting-edge hardware and software to provide Australians with a phone that’s as reliable as it is stylish,” said Michael Tran, OPPO Australia’s Managing Director.

“With 33W SUPERVOOC, 50MP camera, and ColorOS 13, the A78 5G is not only economical but also feature-rich. At OPPO, we believe that technology should be accessible to all, and the A78 5G is our latest contribution to that mission.”

Not only has OPPO packed some quality specs into the A78 5G, but the phone’s sub-$400 AUD price point, and the inclusion of 5G compatibility, makes it a tempting prospect if you’ve been looking for a new device but at a budget-friendly price.

The OPPO A78 5G features the OPPO Glow process on the back of the phone, to create its iconic shimmering and fingerprint-free matte finish (similar to the OPPO Reno8 Lite 5G). OPPO has not only created a stylish-looking device, but it’s also rather lightweight at just 188g.

You’ll get a 6.56 inch HD+ Colour-Rich display with up to 90Hz refresh rate, along with dual stereo speakers. Under the hood is the MediaTek Dimensity 700 octa-core processor, which is, of course, 5G compatible. There’s 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, with up to 1TB of expandable micro SD storage.

The battery of the A78 5G is one of the big draw cards, with a 5,000mAh battery plus 33W SUPERVOOC fast-charging (which means you can charge your phone up to 100% in 67 minutes). There are also several battery-saving features including Super Power Saving mode and Super Night Standby mode, which learns your sleeping pattern to limit battery consumption to just 2% during the night.

As for the cameras, you’ll get a dual rear-camera setup with a 50MP main camera and 2MP portrait lens, plus 8MP front-facing camera. OPPO has also included its 108MP Ultra-Clear Image software, which increases your image resolution to 108MP for great quality photos.

The OPPO A78 5G is available in Glowing Black and Glowing Blue, for $359 AUD RRP. You can pick up the phone from retailers including The Good Guys, JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, Bing Lee and from Optus.
