Performance and battery

Google has included the same powerful, specialty-crafted Tensor G3 chip found in its Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. This is Google’s fastest and most capable chip to date, designed for multitasking and also to support the bevy of AI features included in the 8 series.

Pixel 8a users will have access to a full range of smart AI and Google Assistant features, including:

  • Circle to Search: Search directly from photos, text or video by drawing a circle.
  • Live Translate: Use your camera to instantly translate text, plus translate messages and live audio.
  • Pixel Call Assist: Includes call screening, clear calling and the option to let Pixel wait on hold for you.
  • Gemini: Google’s built-in AI assistant is also coming to Pixel 8a, a first for a Pixel at this price point.

The 8a also includes Google’s Titan M2 security chip and a built-in VPN. You’ll get Android 14 out of the box, plus seven years of software support and security updates.

Google is promising 24-hour plus battery life, thanks to the Pixel’s 4,400mAh battery. The 8a is Qi wireless charging certified and also includes Extreme Battery Saver, for up to 72 hours between charges.
