The latest release in OPPO’s budget-friendly A series, the OPPO A79 5G, comes hot on the heels of the cheaper OPPO A58. The A79 5G is designed to offer a great viewing experience thanks to its large screen and upgraded dual stereo speakers, but at a budget-friendly price of $369 AUD RRP.

OPPO A79 5G features and specs
One of the big stand-out features for the OPPO A79 5G is its focus on providing an immersive entertainment experience. To achieve this, the A79 5G features a large 6.72-inch FHD+ Sunlight display with 680 nits peak brightness, with up to 90Hz refresh rate. You’ll also get OPPO’s new Dual Stereo Speakers which have been optimised for noise reduction and echo suppression for clearer calls, along with enhanced surround sound for better quality audio for videos, music and gaming.
The OPPO A79 5G comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 6020 processor and 5G connectivity, along with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, with up to 1TB of expandable micro SD storage. You’ll also get a big 5,000mAh battery and up to 33W fast charging., however OPPO seems to be selling the fast charger separately. This is a departure from the past couple of years, where you could expect a compatible fast charger included with your OPPO phone.
As for cameras, you’ll get a dual rear camera setup with 50-megapixel AI main camera and 2-megapixel portrait camera, along with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Thanks to super-resolution algorithms, the 50-megapixel main camera can capture 108-megapixel clear images with great detail, plus you’ll get a range of features like Portrait Mode, Ultra Night Mode and Selfie HDR for great portraits in a range of conditions.
The OPPO A79 5G is available in both Mystery Black and Glowing Green colours. The Glowing Green features an exclusive Glowing Feather Design with a special texture like feathers and diamond-like appearance.
