If you’re looking to subscribe to Netflix, there are a range of deals on offer from telcos, electricity providers and more that you can take advantage of right now.

Optus and Netflix

Optus is running a long-term deal on its Optus Plus Family Entertainer NBN packages, where you can get a Netflix standard subscription (usually $18.99 per month via Netflix) included in the cost of your plan. Optus has two plans under its Family Entertainer packages: the Optus Plus Family Entertainer NBN ($110 per month) and the Optus Plus Family Entertainer Fast NBN ($120 per month).

Optus also gives you the option to bundle multiple streaming services through the Optus SubHub and get a discount of up to 10% off your total subscription bill each month. Optus has multiple partners to choose from, including Binge, Amazon Prime and Paramount Plus, as well as other subscriptions, such as Microsoft 365, Kindle and Google One.

AGL and Netflix

AGL customers can access Netflix through the energy provider’s AGL Netflix Electricity Plan, which includes a standard ad-supported Netflix subscription (usually $7.99 per month via Netflix). That’s equivalent to $96 in savings over one year for an ad-supported Netflix plan.

You can also get a discount on Netflix’s standard and premium plans through AGL’s Netflix Electricity Plan. AGL will cover $7.99 for each of those plans; you just need to pay the difference, which is $11 for a standard plan and $18 for a premium plan.

Canstar money expert Sally Tindall says: “Streaming services have become wildly popular in Australia over the past decade but they also add a sizable amount to your monthly bills—especially if you subscribe to multiple services. Taking advantage of sign-up offers, bundling deals and free trials is an easy way to get some dollars back in your pocket. Don’t forget to review which platforms you’re paying for too: if you’re not watching it regularly you’ve got to wonder if you really need it.”
