DMO and VDO Pricing Update

On July 1st 2025, the Default Market Offer (DMO) and Victorian Default Offer (VDO) were updated by the Australian Government. In accordance to this change many energy companies have changed the usage rates, supply rates and solar feed-in tariffs on electricity plans to reflect the new DMO and VDO. These brands include:

The retailer also reduced the solar feed-in tariff on this offer to 0c/kWh for new customers in NSW, QLD and the ACT. Victorian customers however, can still nab a 4.9c/kWh solar feed-in tariff on this offer. Nectr has also removed the fixed rates from the GreenPower plan in the ACT.

Additionally, the retailer has introduced a sign-up credit on its 100% Clean plan for new customers in NSW, VIC, QLD and the ACT. This is worth $50 and will be awarded to customers on their second bill.

Amber Electric has retired its previous market offer for CommBank customers in New South Wales, Victoria, south-east Queensland and South Australia, replacing it with four new plans in each state. OVO Energy

In VIC, OVO Energy has extended the fixed energy rates on its market offers. Now, customers who sign up to The One Plan, The Basic Plan, The EV Plan or The Basic EV Plan between November 1, 2023 and November 30, 2023, will be eligible for fixed electricity rates until December 1, 2024.

The retailer has also removed The Solar Plan for new customers in the state. This plan offered higher solar feed-in tariffs to eligible solar customers.

In NSW and VIC, GloBird Energy has changed the rates on its Boost, GloSave, GloGreen and Green Light plans. The retailer also changed the rates on its Ultra Save and Solar Plus plans in NSW. GloBird Energy remains one of the cheapest electricity providers for households in each state.

Kogan Energy

Kogan Energy has changed the rates on its market offers in NSW and VIC. The retailer has also changed the name of its plans in these states, as well as in QLD and SA. These plans are now called ‘Kogan Energy with Free First’ and Kogan Energy for Current First Members’. The first offer comes with a 12-month complimentary membership to Kogan First, whereas the second offers a $99 one-off bill credit to exisiting First members when they sign up to Kogan’s energy plan.

CovaU

In Victoria, CovaU has retired its Super Saver Online plan for new customers in the state. This offer came with a $50 sign-up credit and variable rates.

Powershop

Powershop has introduced a new plan in NSW and VIC called Power House. This is now the retailer’s flagship offer in these states, replacing the 100% Carbon Neutral plan in market. The retailer has also removed the 100% Carbon Neutral plan in QLD and SA.

Switch Saver is still available to customers in NSW and VIC and comes with a $150 one-off bill credit for eligible new Powershop customers.

AGL

In QLD, AGL has decreased its rates on its Value Saver and Seniors Savers plans. The Seniors Saver plan is a plan designed specifically with seniors concession card holders in mind.

Amber

Amber has decreased the usage rates on its Amber Plan – Wholesale Variable Prices plans in NSW, VIC, QLD, SA and the ACT. This has resulted in small price drops for these plans in each state or territory. This plan gives customers access to wholesale electricity prices in exchange for a monthly membership fee.

Sumo

Sumo has increased its supply and usage rates for its Assure plan in QLD, resulting in an overall price increase, and decreased the solar feed-in tariff available on this plan.

GloBird Energy

In SA, GloBird Energy has reduced the rates on its GloSave, Boost, GloGreen, Green Light and UltraSave plans. This has resulted in an overall price drop for all these plans in the state. GloSave is now one of the cheapest electricity offers available to households in SA.

OVO Energy

In Victoria, OVO Energy has reduced the rates on its The EV Plan for new customers. This plan offers a discounted usage rate between midnight and 6am to help EV drivers offset the costs of home charging. The retailer has also added fixed rate energy options to all its market offer in the state. Eligible customers who sign up between October 1, 2023 and October 31, 2023 will now receive fixed rates until November 1, 2024.

Origin Energy

Origin has changed the solar feed-in tariff on the Solar Boost plan in NSW, VIC, QLD, SA and the ACT. This feed-in tariff is now 15c/kWh for the first 14kWh/day for VIC, SA and the ACT and 16c/kWh for the first 14kWh/day for NSW and QLD. After this time, the feed-in tariff will revert back to the standard cost depending on location. There were no changes to the base rates for this offer.

Origin has also retried its Solar Lite Variable product from market in NSW, QLD and SA. This was the retailer’s low cost, low solar feed-in tariff plan for solar customers.

September 2023

Simply Energy

In NSW, Simply Energy has added a $200 sign-up credit to its market offers and a $300 sign-up credit to its NRMA specialty offers. The retailer has also added a $100 sign-up credit to its market offers in SA. These credits will be applied as a one-off to eligible customers’ bills. As a result of this change, Simply Energy’s plans are now considerably cheaper across NSW and SA.

EnergyAustralia

EnergyAustralia has removed its Solar Max plan from market for new customers in NSW, VIC, QLD, SA and the ACT. This offer was the retailer’s specialty solar plan which rewarded customers with a boosted solar feed-in tariff for the first 15kWh of exports each day. EnergyAustralia is still offering generous feed-in tariffs on its standard market offers though.

OVO Energy

OVO Energy has increased the Welcome Credit on its market offers across NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. This is now worth $100 and is available to new customers when they sign-up. The credit will be paid in 12 monthly instalments.

GloBird Energy

In VIC, GloBird Energy has increased the rates on its GloGreen and Green Light plans. Its cheapest offer in the state however, remains as Boost.

In QLD, Tango Energy has introduced its eSelect plan for new customers. This plan offers competitive rates to customers who agree to direct debit payments and monthly e-billing. eSelect comes with variable rates on an ongoing contract.

EnergyAustralia

EnergyAustralia has launched a new plan – Flexipower – in NSW, VIC, QLD, SA and the ACT. This offer comes with variable rates on a 12-month benefit period and a competitive guaranteed discount off usage and supply charges. To be eligible for this offer however, customers will need to agree to e-billing, email communication and use of EnergyAustralia’s bill smoothing program, Regular Pay. Flexipower is now the retailer’s most competitive offer in each state and territory.

Additionally, the retailer has changed the rates on its Flexi Plan in NSW, QLD and VIC.

Lumo Energy

In Victoria, Lumo Energy has changed the rates on its Basic and Plus plans. These plans both offer variable rates on an ongoing contract with no exit fees if you decide to switch. Basic however, offers slightly lower usage and supply rates for customers than Plus, making it the more attractive plan of the two.

Dodo

In Victoria, Dodo has reduced the rates on its Market Offer plan. This is the retailer’s flagship offer and the change has resulted in an overall price drop for prospective customers interested in this plan.

Amber

Amber has increased the usage rates on its Amber Plan offer in NSW, VIC, QLD, SA and the ACT. This has resulted is a small overall price rise for this plan in each area. The Amber Plan offers variable wholesale prices to customers and access comes at a monthly cost of $19 to cover subscription fees.

In NSW, AGL has increased the new customer sign-up credit to $100 for both electricity and gas plans. This credit will be paid every three months in $25 increments on customers’ bills. The credit is also available to customers who are moving house.  Previously the retailer was offering $75 bill credit per fuel type to new customers.

Alinta Energy

Alinta Energy has introduced a Carbon Balance plan for customers in VIC, QLD, NSW and SA. This plan aims to reduce the carbon footprint by offsetting the carbon emissions associated with the energy plan through offset units eligible under the Climate Active Carbon Neutral Standard.

Sumo

In QLD, Sumo has re-introduced its Assure and Freedom plans back to market for new customers. Assure requires customers to sign-up online and pay via direct debit in order to access cheaper rates, while Freedom offers more flexible options. Both plans come with variable rates and no exit fees.

In SA, Energy Locals has reduced the usage rates on its Online Member and Local Member plans. This has resulted in an overall price reduction for these plans. GloBird Energy has changed its rates across plans in NSW, QLD, SA and VIC. NSW, QLD and SA plans saw an overall price increase while prices in VIC were reduced.

Powershop has re-introduced its Switch Saver offer for new customers in NSW, VIC and QLD. This plan comes with similar rates to the retailer’s flagship offer, 100% Carbon Neutral, and awards new sign-ups with a one-off $150 bill credit.

OVO Energy

OVO Energy has increased the rates across all its market offers in New South Wales, Victoria, south-east Queensland and South Australia, resulting in higher prices.

Momentum Energy

In Victoria, Momentum Energy has reduced the rates on its Nothing Fancy offer for new electricity customers. The retailer has also reduced the rates on its natural gas counterpart. Nothing Fancy requires customers to agree to e-billing and direct debit payments to be eligible.

Red Energy has increased the rates on its Red Fixed Saver plan in New South Wales, resulting in higher prices.

Nectr Energy

Nectr has decreased its supply and usage rates for the 100% Clean market offer in New South Wales and Queensland.

Arcline has increased the rates on its Energy Plan Plus market offer in Victoria.

Sumo Energy

Sumo has increased the rates on its Sumo Assure plan in Victoria.

Amber has slightly decreased the usage rates for its offers in SA, NSW, ACT and QLD.

Momentum Energy has adjusted its rates across plans in QLD, NSW and SA which has resulted in some overall price decreases.

AGL

AGL has slightly increased the usage and supply rates for market offers in Victoria, including its Senior Savers plan.

Tango Energy

Tango Energy has increased its rates for its Home Select Plans for both gas and electricity in Victoria. It has also reintroduced its eSelect plans for Victorian customers.

CovaU Energy

CovaU has increased prices on its Freedom plan for customers in Queensland and removed the Online Offer sign-up credit.

GloBird Energy

GloBird has increased its rates on all market offers in New South Wales, including its GloSave, Boost, Green Light, UltraSave and GloGreen plans.

Energy Locals

Energy Locals has introduced a new sign up bonus for interested customers in Victoria. This is available on the retailer’s Online Member plan and rewards customers with $100 bill credit on their first bill. To be eligible, however, customers must agree to join the retailer’s insights program.

In NSW and SA, the retailer is waiving the first six months of membership fees for new customers. This is also applicable on the Online Member plan.

Red Energy

Red Energy has increased its rates across plans in QLD, SA and NSW, resulting in price increases in all three states.

OVO Energy

OVO Energy has reduced the sign-up credit across its market offers in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA to $50, paid over 12 months. Previously this credit was worth $100, paid over 12 months. Its Telsa giveaway remains active until August 31, 2o23.

EnergyAustralia

EnergyAustralia has changed the rates on its market offers in the ACT and QLD. It has also removed its sign-up credit from plans in NSW and reduced the credit on the Flexi Plan in SA to $25.

CovaU Energy

CovaU has removed its plans in SA and changed prices on its Freedom plans in NSW and TAS. Its Online Offer sign up credit has also been removed for new customers in NSW.

Origin Energy

Origin has re-introduced a sign up credit for customers interested in switching to the Go Variable or Everyday Rewards Variable plans in NSW, QLD, SA and the ACT. This credit is worth $100 and will be awarded to customers if they stay with the provider until November 1.

July 2023

Simply Energy

In QLD, Simply Energy has removed its Simply Basics plan to new customers and replaced it with its Simply Energy Saver plan. The retailer has also re-introduced its Simply Seniors and Simply Energy Solar plans for new customers in the state.

Additionally, Simply Energy has increased the rates on its Simply Energy Saver plan in NSW.

AGL

AGL has lowered rates on its market offers in New South Wales and Victoria, resulting in price decreases in both states.

GloBird Energy

In QLD, GloBird Energy has increased the rates across all its market offers. This has resulted in a slight overall price jump for these offers.

Sumo

Sumo has made some changes to its plans in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. In NSW, the retailer has removed its Sumo Lite product from market and re-introduced its Sumo Freedom plan for new customers. In QLD, Sumo has removed its Sumo Assure Advantage plan for new customers in the state. The retailer has also changed the rates on its offers in SA and VIC in line with the default power increases in these states.

Diamond Energy

Diamond Energy has increased the usage rates on its Everyday Renewable Saver plan in NSW, QLD and SA. The retailer has also changed the rates on its Standing Offer plan in these states as well as VIC, in line with the new DMO and VDO released on July 1.

Simply Energy

Simply Energy has increased prices on its NRMA, Energy Saver and For Good plans in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. The retailer also removed some of its RAA plans for SA customers.

Nectr

Nectr has reintroduced its 100% Clean market offers in NSW and QLD, and increased rates on its standard and market offers across all states. The retailer also reduced its solar FiT on its Victorian standing offer from 5.2c/kWh to 4.9c/kWh.

Tango Energy

Tango Energy has removed its standing offers in QLD and SA as well as the eSelect plan in VIC. This means that it only currently has one market offer available for customers in VIC and NSW, the Home Select plan.

Lumo Energy

Lumo Energy has changed the rates on its Standing Offer in SA and its Victorian Default Offer in VIC as per the default changes which came into effect on July 1. The retailer has also decreased the solar feed-in tariff on its Value and VDO plan in Victoria, in line with the new minimum feed-in tariff. Additionally, Victorian customers can now sign up to the Plus plan in the state again. This offer comes with variable rates and waives connection and disconnection fees for customers when they move house.

GloBird Energy

GloBird Energy has increased its prices for all market offers in NSW and SA as well as its SureSave plan in VIC. QLD market offers saw an increase in the standard solar FiT from 4c/kWh to 5c/kWh, however the standard solar FiT in VIC was reduced from 5.2c/kWh to 4.9c/kWh.

AGL

AGL has increased rates across all of its market offers in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA, including its Value Savers and Basic plans. This has resulted in price increases across all states, however sign-up credits are still available to customers on selected plans in NSW, VIC and QLD.

Alinta Energy

Alinta Energy has changed the rates on its Home Deal, Sports Pack and Standing Offer plans in NSW, VIC and QLD. In SA, the retailer has reintroduced the Home Deal and Sports Pack for new customers as well as increased the rates on its Standing Offer, in line with DMO changes in the state. Victorian customers have also been doled a new sign-up incentive that’ll see $75 taken off their first bill after signing up. Please note this credit is only available for new customers that sign up before September 30, 2023.

Dodo

Dodo has raised its prices across its market offer plans in VIC and NSW.

Kogan Energy

Kogan Energy has raised rates across its market offer Kogan Energy With Free Kogan First and Kogan Energy For Current Kogan First Customers plans in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA, meaning all offers have increased in price.

Energy Locals

Energy Locals has changed the rates on its Local Member and Online Member market offers in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. It has also adjusted its Online Member – Limited Time Offer in NSW to include a $50 refer a friend credit.

1st Energy

1st Energy has changed the rates on its market offers across Victoria. It has also retired its 30% guaranteed discount version of the 1st Saver plan to new customers for the time being. In Tasmania, the retailer has increased the rates across its market offers. It has however, also increased the solar feed-in tariff it is offering on both its standard plans and solar-specific plan in the island state.

Momentum Energy

Momentum Energy has increased rates across its standing offers in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA, and has also adjusted service fees in each state. This has resulted in all plans increasing in price.

Powershop has changed the rates on its 100% Carbon Neutral offer in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. The retailer has also changed the solar feed-in tariff on this offer for these states, with NSW, QLD and SA now awarded 5c/kWh, whilst Victorians can score 5.2c/kWh.

GloBird Energy

In Victoria, GloBird Energy has significantly increased the rates across all its market offers. This has resulted in massive overall price hikes for all of these plans. Its gas offers in the state have also seen an increase.

Nectr

Nectr has removed its Greenpower plan from market to new customers in NSW, QLD and SA. The retailer has also removed its flagship 100% Clean offer from market in the ACT. Greenpower is still available to new customers in the ACT, while 100% Clean is still on offer to new Victorian customers.

GloBird Energy

GloBird Energy has decreased the rates across all its market offers in NSW, QLD and SA. This has resulted in significant price reductions for these offers, making them among the cheapest available in each relevant area. GloBird Energy had also changed the price of its gas offers in these states.

In NSW, this change has resulted in a slight decrease in prices, whilst in QLD and SA it has meant an increase for overall prices. 1st Energy

1st Energy has increased the price of its 1st Saver plan in NSW. The conditional discount remains, offering a small percentage discount for customers who pay their electricity bill on time. The retailer has also introduced a new variation of its 1st Saver plan to customers in Victoria. This variation comes with a 30% guaranteed discount off usage charges.

Lumo Energy

In Victoria, Lumo Energy has significantly increased the rates on its Value plan. This is a fixed rate electricity plan, with a rates locked in until August 31, 2024. The retailer has also retired its Basic plan for new customers in the state.

EnergyAustralia

EnergyAustralia has removed the sign-up credit from its Flexi Plan, Balance Plan Home and Solar Max products in QLD and SA, as well as the Balance Plan Home offer in NSW. The retailer, however has upped the sign-up credit to $75 for the Flexi Plan and Solar Max products in NSW. This sign-up credit is for new customers on these offers.

Dodo

Dodo has reintroduced its Market Offer for new customers in south-east Queensland. This is a variable rate plan with no fixed term or exit fees, with higher rates than Dodo’s Standing Offer.

GloBird Energy

GloBird Energy has significantly increased the rates on across all its market offers in New South Wales, south-east Queensland and South Australia. These changes have resulted in an overall price increase for these offers. The retailer has also decreased the solar feed-in tariff on its Solar Plus plan in NSW from 17c/kWh for the first 8kWh/day, 3c/kwh thereafter, to 15c/kWh for the first 8kWh/day, 6c/kwh thereafter.

AGL

AGL has reduced rates on its popular Value Saver plan in Victoria, making it one of the cheapest plans available for customers in the area. The retailer also continues to offer a $75 sign-up credit to new customers on this plan.

Tango Energy

Tango Energy has brought back its Home Select plan to new customers in NSW. This plan offers variable rates on an ongoing contract with no exits fees. The retailer has also significantly decreased the rates on its eSelect plan in Victoria for new customers. eSelect is now one of the cheapest plans available for households in Melbourne, living on the CitiPower network.

GloBird Energy

GloBird increased rates on its Boost, Glosave, Greenlight and Glogreen plans in Victoria, meaning prices have risen for customers in the state. Pay-on-time and direct debit discounts are still available on selected plans.

Sumo

In QLD, Sumo has increased the sign-up credit on its Sumo Assure Advantage plan to $100. This credit was previously worth $40. Sumo Assure Advantage remains one of the most competitive offers for customers in south-east Queensland on a single-rate tariff.

OVO Energy

OVO Energy has introduced a new electricity plan exclusively for electric vehicle owners. The EV Plan, available to households in Victoria, QLD, SA and parts of NSW will award a significantly cheaper usage rate to EV owners between the hours of midnight and 6am, as a means to help offset charging costs. The plan also comes with a boosted solar feed-in tariff of 10c/kWh and is applicable for OVO Energy’s $190 bill credit. Households will require a smart meter and electric vehicle to be eligible though.

GloBird Energy

In QLD, GloBird Energy has increased the rates on its Boost, GloSave, GloGreen, Green Light and UltraSave market offers. This has resulted in overall price jumps for all plans. GloSave is now the cheapest of the retailer’s offers in the state, coming with additional discounts for customers who pay their bills on time and via direct debit.

Energy Locals

In NSW, Energy Locals has reduced the usage rate on its Online Member plan for new customers. This has resulted in a significant price reduction for this offer in the area. The Online Member plan is also now applicable for a $50 bill credit to customers who refer a friend to Energy Locals in NSW and SA.

AGL

AGL has adjusted the sign-up credits offered on its Value Saver plans in NSW and VIC, and its Basic plan in NSW. The provider has also re-introduced its Value Saver plan in Queensland, along with a $50 online sign-up credit. Solar customers can also enjoy a larger feed-in tariff of 15c/kWh for the first 14kWh per day, across all states.

OVO Energy

OVO Energy has introduced its The Basic Plan to households in NSW, QLD and SA. This plan is similar to the retailer’s flagship offer, The One Plan, with the main difference being that customers don’t have to agree to direct debit payments to be eligible for this offer. OVO Energy has also added its The Solar Plan and The Basic Solar Plan for households in VIC, QLD, SA and parts of NSW. This plan offers a boosted feed-in tariff to eligible solar customers for the first 4,000kWh of exports each year.

Origin Energy

Origin has reduced the rates on its Go Variable and Everyday Rewards Variable plans in Victoria and Queensland. This has resulted in an overall price drop for these offers. The retailer has also increased the bill credit on these offers from $100 to $150 in NSW, QLD, SA and the ACT. This credit however, won’t be awarded to customers until after July 1.

Globird Energy

In Victoria, GloBird Energy has reduced the rates on its Boost, GloSave, Green Light and GloGreen offers. This has resulted in an overall price drop for these plans in the state, now making them some of the cheapest offers available to households.

Lumo Energy

Lumo Energy has increased rates on its Value plan in Victoria, leading to higher prices for customers. It has also adjusted the end date for this plan’s fixed rate period, extending it through to June 30, 2024.

EnergyAustralia

EnergyAustralia has increased the guaranteed discount on its Flexi Plan to 10% in New South Wales, causing a significant decrease in pricing. This plan also includes a $50 online sign-up credit.

The company has also added a $50 online sign-up credit to its Balance Plan Home and Solar Max options in both New South Wales and Victoria.

Origin Energy

Origin Energy has added a $100 online sign-up credit to its Go Variable and Everyday Rewards Variable offers across NSW, QLD and SA. This credit will be awarded to customers on their first bill after July 1. The introduction of this credit, in addition to rate changes in SA and NSW, has seen these plans reduce significantly in price in these three states.

These same plans have also seen a noticeable price drop in Victoria however, this was solely due to a change in usage and supply rates. There is currently no sign-up credit on Origin’s offers in Victoria.

GloBird Energy

GloBird Energy has increased its rates for all of its market offers in Victoria. In addition, the $110 online sign-up credit has been removed from the Boost, GloSave, Green Light and GloGreen plans. However, the SureSave $220 online sign-up credit remains.

CovaU Energy

CovaU Energy has added a 5% guaranteed discount to the usage charges on its Freedom Online and Super Saver Online offers in NSW, VIC, SEQ and SA. This has resulted in a small price drop for these plans in these states. A $50 online sign-up credit is also currently available on these offers.

AGL

AGL has increased the sign-up credit for its Seniors Saver plans in both New South Wales and Victoria. Customers in NSW will receive a $75 credit, while in VIC customers can claim $100. This is up from the $25 credit previously offered, and currently still available to customers in Queensland and South Australia.

EnergyAustralia

EnergyAustralia has changed the guaranteed discount on its Flexi Plan in Victoria to 11% off usage and supply charges. The retailer has also introduced a $50 online sign-up credit for new customers who sign up to this plan in the state. Both these changes have seen the plan drop significantly in price.

1st Energy

In Victoria, 1st Energy has released two new variations of the 1st Saver plan. One variation comes with a higher 23% guaranteed discount off usage charges while the other offers a 15% discount. Both plans however, offer variable rates on a no lock-in contract.

GloBird Energy

In Victoria, GloBird Energy has re-introduced its Boost, GloSave, Green Light and GloGreen plans to new customers in the state. These offers have been brought back with the added bonus of a $110 sign-up credit for customers who sign-up online. Further north, the retailer has also introduced its Solar Plus plan to customers in SEQ. This offer is marketed towards households with solar panels, coming with a boosted feed-in tariff for a portion of customers’ daily solar exports.

AGL

In Victoria, AGL has upgraded the online sign-up credit on the Value Saver and Basics plans in the state to $75. Previously, this credit was $50. This change has resulted in an overall price drop for the provider in the state. The retailer has also increased the solar feed-in tariff on its solar specific electricity plan, Solar Savers, to 12c/kWh for the first 14kWh/day. Previously, this was 10c/kWh for the first 14kWh/day.

Origin Energy

Origin Energy has changed the solar feed-in tariff on its Solar Boost offer. This plan now offers 12c/kWh for the first 14kWh/day. After this limit, it reverts to 5c/kWh. The new feed-in tariff is applicable on this offer across NSW, VIC, SEQ, SA and the ACT.

Momentum Energy

Momentum Energy has significantly dropped the rates on its Nothing Fancy plan in NSW, VIC, SEQ and SA. This is the retailer’s flagship offer with variable rates and no lock-in contracts. To be eligible for this offer however, customers must agree to ebilling and paying via direct debit.

Lumo Energy

In Victoria, Lumo Energy has slashed the rates on its flagship offer, Basic. This is variable rate plan with no lock-in contracts or exit fees. Basic is now one of the cheapest plans available to households in the Melbourne area.

Energy Locals

In New South Wales, Energy Locals has introduced a new credit on its Online Member plan for new customers. This credit is equivalent to about $14.99/month and essentially waives the monthly membership fee for new customers for the first six months. Customers have until June 30, 2023 to access this discount.

GloBird Energy has reduced the rates across all its market offers in South Australia. This has resulted in a small overall price drop for these plans in the state. In Victoria, the retailer has introduced a $220 online sign-up credit on its SureSave plan. This credit will be awarded on customers’ bills after six months with the provider. SureSave is currently the only market offer available to Victorian customers.

AGL

In Victoria and New South Wales, AGL has introduced a $50 online sign-up credit to its Value Saver and Basics plans. This has seen a slight price reduction for these plans in these states. AGL has also retired its Flexible Saver plan from market to new customers in NSW, VIC, Queensland and South Australia.

Momentum Energy

Momentum Energy reduced the rates for its Nothing Fancy and Suit Yourself market offer plans in both New South Wales and Victoria. Both these plans feature variable rates with no discounts.

Kogan Energy

Kogan Energy reduced rates across NSW, SA and QLD, although VIC prices slightly increased. The retailer also introduced its Basic plan for VIC customers, and updated its Kogan First membership price from $79 to $99.

Sumo

Sumo re-introduced its Sumo Assure plan in Victoria. This is an online-only plan with no conditional discounts, with all communications via email and payments made via direct debit.

Nectr

In Victoria, Nectr launched two new energy plans: 100% Clean and its Standing Offer. Previously, Nectr had only serviced NSW, south-east QLD, and SA customers. Nectr’s 100% Clean plan also includes a $50 bill discount for referring a friend.

February 2023

Simply Energy

In South Australia, Simply Energy has removed its Simply Basic plan and replaced it with a new offer, Simply Energy Saver. The discount percentage for Simple RAA members has also increased, from 1% to 5%. Simply has also introduced a new plan, Simply Smarter, which includes free smart meter installation.

Tango Energy

In Victoria, Tango Energy has introduced a new product called eSelect PLUS. This is a variable rate plan with no lock-in contracts or exit fees. To be eligible for this offer however, households will need to agree to monthly ebilling and direct debit payments. There is also a $100 guaranteed credit available which is awarded on customers’ third bill with the provider.

eSelect PLUS replaces Tango Energy’s eSelect offer in the state and is now one of the cheapest electricity offers available to Victorians.

Energy Locals

In South Australia, Energy Locals has re-introduced its Online Member plan to new customers. The retailer has also added a $14.99 monthly membership credit to the plan. This sees the membership fees on this plan waived for the first six months. Online Member is currently one of the cheapest electricity offers available to SA households.

Sumo

Sumo has added a $40 guaranteed sign-up credit to its Sumo Assure plan in NSW and Sumo Assure Advantage plan in SEQ. This has resulted in an overall price drop for these plans in each state respectively. The change means Sumo currently offers the cheapest single rate electricity offer to households in SEQ, and is among the cheapest offers for households on Sydney’s Ausgrid network.

Momentum Energy

In Victoria, Momentum Energy has re-introduced its Bill Boss product to customers. This is a variable rate plan, with no exit fees or lock-in contracts. It also has monthly billing options. Despite this change, Nothing Fancy still remains the provider’s cheapest single rate option for customers in Victoria.

CovaU has changed the rates and removed the guaranteed discounts from its Freedom and Freedom Online plans in NSW, QLD and SA and its Super Saver and Super Saver Online products in Victoria. This has resulted in a significant overall price drop for its plans in Victoria, NSW and QLD. Its plans in SA however, have seen a slight increase as a result.

Despite this, new customers can still get a $50 sign-up credit on the Freedom Online plan in NSW, QLD and SA and the Super Saver Online plan in Victoria.

Dodo

In Victoria, Dodo has slashed the price of its flagship deal, Market Offer. This plan comes with variables rates on a no lock-in contract. A small monthly discount is also available to those who bundle their electricity and gas plan with one of Dodo’s internet plans.

Tango Energy

In Victoria, Tango Energy has introduced a new plan called eSelect. This offer comes with variables rates on a no lock-in contract but customers will need to agree to direct debit payments and e-billing to be eligible. eSelect is currently one of the cheapest offers available to electricity customers in Melbourne.

GloBird Energy

GloBird Energy has significantly decreased the rates on its Boost, GloSave, UltraSave and GloGreen products for new customers in NSW, SEQ and SA. The retailer has also re-introduced its Green Light offer to customers in these states, and reduced its rate in SA. Green Light offsets 10% of a customer’s carbon associated with their energy usage and comes with a small pay on time and direct debit payment discount.

In Victoria, however, GloBird Energy has increased the rates on its Boost, GloSave, GloGreen and Green Light plans. But, these changes have been offset partially thanks to a new $60 online sign-up credit which has been added to these offers in the state.

Simply Energy

In Victoria, Simply Energy has reduced the discount on the Simply Movie Perks plan, causing an overall price increase for the plan in the state. Alongside this price change, the retailer has also retired its Simply Energy Saver plan for new customers. In its place, however, Simply Energy has brought back the Simply Basics and Simply Blue Perks plans in the state. The Simply Basics plan offers variable rates in line with the VDO, whilst the Simply Blue Perks plan comes with a complimentary 12-month membership to NRMA Blue.

The retailer also increased the discount on the Simply For Good plan in the state, decreasing the overall price for new customers.

December 2022

Red Energy

In NSW, Red Energy has reduced the rates on its BCNA Saver, Living Energy Saver, Qantas Red Saver and Red Taronga Flex products. It has also removed the fixed rates from its Living Energy Saver product, replacing it with variable rates for new customers. Those still looking for a fixed rate offer however, can access them through Red Energy’s new product in NSW, Red Fixed Saver. This plan locks in rates until January 1, 2024 for households.

GloBird Energy

GloBird Energy has significantly increased the rates on its Boost, GloSave, UltraSave and GloGreen products in NSW, SEQ and SA. The retailer has also retired its Green Light plan to new customers in these states. This plan offset 10% of the carbon emissions associated with customers’ energy usage and had a small conditional discount for those that paid on time and by direct debit.

Momentum Energy

Momentum Energy has begun offering its Nothing Fancy and Suit Yourself market offers to new customers again in NSW, SEQ and SA after a short hiatus in these markets. Its prices, however, are not the most competitive in the market.

Red Energy

Red Energy has reduced the usage rate on its Living Energy Saver, BCNA Saver and Qantas Red Saver plans in Victoria. This has resulted in an overall price reduction for new customers interested in these plans.

CovaU Energy

In Victoria, CovaU Energy has increased its rates for both its Super Saver and Super Saver Online plans. The Super Saver Online plan comes with a $50 credit when you sign up online.

Lumo Energy

In Victoria, Lumo Energy has reduced the usage rates on its Basic plan. This has resulted in an overall price drop for new customers interested in signing up to this offer.

GloBird Energy

GloBird Energy have changed its pricing on the GloSave and Boost plans in NSW, QLD and SA. Gas market offers have also changed in these states. In Victoria, the retailer has removed its Solar Plus Plans for new customers. This offer came with a 10c/kWh feed-in tariff for eligible customers with solar panels.

November 2022

Sumo Energy

Sumo Energy have made some changes to its plan offerings in SA, NSW and QLD. In SA, the Assure Advantage plan was removed and replaced with Sumo Lite. The Assure plan was added in NSW and in QLD Assure Advantage replaced the existing Assure plan. There were no changes made in Victoria.

Momentum Energy

Momentum Energy have reinstated its Suit Yourself plans for both gas and electricity in Victoria.

Simply Energy

Simply Energy has re-introduced its Simply Energy Saver offer to customers in NSW and Victoria. This plan comes with a generous guaranteed discount off usage and supply charges and no exit fees. It has replaced the retailer’s Simply Basics plan in both states, which is now unavailable to new customers.

Alongside these changes, the retailer has also increased the guaranteed discount on its Simply NRMA offer in NSW, which has reduced the overall price significantly. The Simply Blue Perks offer is also back online for customers in NSW. This deal offers a 12-month complimentary membership to NRMA Blue to eligible customers, alongside a generous guaranteed discount.

CovaU Energy

CovaU Energy has reduced the rates on its Freedom and Freedom Online offers in New South Wales, south-east Queensland and South Australia. The online version of this product also comes with a $50 online sign-up credit for new customers in each state.

EnergyAustralia

In Victoria and New South Wales, EnergyAustralia has removed the $25 online sign-up credit on its Flexi Plan, Balance Plan Home and Basic Home offers. It has also removed the guaranteed discount on the Balance Plan Home offer. These changes have resulted in an overall price increase for these three plans in both states.

Powershop

In Victoria and New South Wales, Powershop has retired its Switch Saver offer from market. This was a plan specifically designed for new customers that awarded them a $100 sign-up credit. Powershop’s flagship offer, 100% Carbon Neutral, has now taken the place of this plan.

AGL

AGL has removed its $50 online sign-up credit from the Value Saver and Basics plans in New South Wales and Victoria. This has seen a slight price rise for these plans to new customers in these states. The retailer has also removed its Value Saver product from market to new customers in south-east Queensland.

Outside of this, AGL has also reduced the sign-up credits on its Seniors Saver and Electric Vehicle Plans. In all states it is available, Seniors Saver now comes with a $25 sign-up credit, while the Electric Vehicle Plan offers $120 in credits over a 12-month benefit period. The Electric Vehicle Plan has also had its fixed rates removed.

GloBird Energy

GloBird has removed its $120 sign-up credit that was previously available for Victorian customers. The retailer has also changed the price on four of its electricity plans in the state: Boost, GloSave, Green Light and GloGreen. This has resulted in an overall price drop for these plans.

Origin Energy

Origin has adjusted its product line-up in NSW, Victoria, SA, south-east Queensland and the ACT. This change has seen the retailer’s fixed rate Go and Everyday Rewards offers retired to new customers, with a variable rate option now taking the place of these two plans. Origin has also removed the Flexi Rate ePlus plan for new customers.

In addition to this, the boosted solar feed-in tariff on the Solar Boost plan has been reduced to 8c/kWh for new customers in NSW, VIC, SA and SEQ. This rate is only applicable for the first 14kWh exported each day. After this, it reverts to 5c/kWh or 5.2c/kWh, depending on location.

October 2022

Tango Energy

In Victoria, Tango Energy have reintroduced its Solar Saver and Tango Blue Plans. The Solar Saver plan comes with a 10.4c/kWh feed-in tariff for customers with solar panels. Tango Blue is Tango Energy’s 100 per cent GreenPower accredited renewable energy plan, offering to match 100 per cent of your electricity usage with renewable energy from sources such as wind, solar, water and bioenergy. As well as reintroducing plans, it has also decreased prices for its Home Select plan.

GloBird Energy

GloBird have slightly increased its prices on its Boost plan in QLD and SolarPlus plan in NSW. Even with these increases, its prices remain somewhat competitive with others in the market.

Momentum Energy

In Victoria, Momentum Energy have reinstated its Nothing Fancy plans for both gas and electricity. It is one per cent cheaper than the VDO and is Momentum’s cheapest plan in Vic.

Lumo Energy

Lumo Energy have decreased prices in Victoria for its Basic and Value plans. Basic continues to be its cheapest offering to those living in Vic.

Simply Energy

In Victoria, Simply Energy has brought back its Simply Movie Perks plan. This plan awards customers with 1,000 Vrewards points each month, which can then be put towards to movie tickets and snacks at Village Cinemas. It also comes with a guaranteed discount off usage charges. Simply Energy has also introduced its Simply Solar plan in the state, which comes with a boosted solar feed-in tariff for customers with solar panels.

CovaU Energy

CovaU Energy has brought back its market offers for new customers in NSW, Victoria, QLD, SA and Tasmania. In Victoria, customers can have a choice between the Super Saver or Super Saver Online, whilst all other states have access to the Freedom and Freedom Online plans. All plans come with a guaranteed discount off usage charges, varying in amount from state to state. The online iteration of each plan offers a small bill credit in exchange for signing up online. Solar variations of these plans are also available.

Thanks to this change, CovaU Energy now offers one of the cheapest single-rate electricity plans to customers in the Melbourne area, according to our database.

GloBird Energy

In Victoria, GloBird Energy has increased the rates on its Boost, GloSave, GloGreen and Green Light offers for new customers. The retailer however, has also introduced a $120 online sign-up credit across all these plans in the state. This will be paid to customers on their seventh month with the provider. GloBird has also decreased rates on Boost, GloSave, GloGreen, UltraSave and Green Light plans in NSW, QLD and SA, resulting in significantly cheaper prices for new customers.

Dodo

In New South Wales, Dodo has increased the rates on its flagship offer, Market Offer. This has resulted in an overall price hike for this plan for new customers in the state. Powershop now offers the cheapest single-rate plan for customers on the Ausgrid network (greater Sydney area) as per our database.

1st Energy

In Victoria, 1st Energy has re-introduced its 1st Saver Online and 1st Solar Bonus plans to new customers. The 1st Saver Online product offers similar rates to its 1st Saver product, however it awards a larger guaranteed discount in exchange for customers signing up online. As for 1st Solar Bonus, this plan comes with a boosted solar feed-in tariff for customers with a solar panel system under 10kW.

The retailer currently still has no market offers available in NSW, QLD or SA.

Origin Energy

Origin has raised the prices on its Go and Everyday Rewards plans in Victoria, NSW, QLD and SA. These plans now at about eight per cent above than the Reference Price or VDO price in each relevant state. Origin’s other plans have not changed.

Origin Energy

Origin has increased the rates on its Home Support offer in NSW, Victoria, SEQ and SA. This plan now offers pricing in line with the relevant Reference Price or VDO price in each area. Home Support is a variable rate plan that comes with a complimentary 12-month membership to Allianz Emergency Home Assistance.

Simply Energy

Simply Energy has introduced some new products to its line-up in various states. Across NSW, Victoria, SEQ and SA, the retailer now offers a 100% GreenPower plan, named Simply For Good. This offer matches 100 per cent of customers’ energy usage with energy from accredited renewable energy generators to then put back into the grid. This will however, come at a small additional cost to the bill-payer.

In NSW and SA, Simply Energy has also expanded its NRMA and RAA members deals. Members of these motoring clubs can now access discounted solar-specific plans and a version of the Simply For Good plan (mentioned above). Non-members in these states can still access Simply Energy’s Solar plan as well, however, they won’t receive a discount.

Sumo

Sumo has changed its product line-up in NSW and Victoria. The retailer has retired its Sumo Freedom plan for new customers in both states, plus its Sumo Assure plan in NSW. In its place, new customers can sign up to the Sumo Lite offer, which comes with variable rates on an ongoing contract. It also has no exit fees or lock-in contracts.

Sumo’s plan change ups means that Dodo now offers the cheapest single rate electricity plan to customers in Sydney, according to our database.

Alinta Energy

Alinta Energy has reduced the usage and supply charges on its Home Deal plan for new customers in NSW, Victoria, south-east Queensland and South Australia. This has resulted in an overall price drop for this offer in these states – bumping Home Deal to one of the cheapest offers in SA and SEQ.

The retailer has also re-introduced its Sports Pack plan to new customers in these states. This offer comes with slightly higher rates than Home Deal in exchange for a 12-month subscription to Kayo Basic.

Origin Energy

Origin has bumped up the price of its fixed rate offers, Everyday Rewards and Go, for new customers in NSW, Victoria, SEQ and SA. Its cheapest offer is still Flexi Rate ePlus, which offers low variable rates to customers who agree to e-billing.

AGL

AGL has increased the rates on its flagship Value Saver in NSW, SEQ and SA. This has resulted in an overall price rise for new customers looking at this offer, in these states. The retailer has also re-introduced its Flexible Saver product to new customers in NSW, SEQ and SA. This is a variable rate offer on an ongoing contract with no exit fees.

EnergyAustralia

EnergyAustralia has removed the $25 online sign-up credit from its Flexi Plan and Basic Home offers in south-east Queensland and South Australia. This has resulted in an overall price rise for these offers. Sign-up credits are still available to new customers in NSW and Victoria

The retailer has also re-introduced its Balance Plan Home product to new customers in NSW, Victoria, SEQ and SA. This is a variable rate plan with an ongoing benefit period. Customers in NSW and Victoria will also receive a small guaranteed discount on usage and supply charges as part of this offer.

Powershop

In Victoria and New South Wales, Powershop has re-introduced its Switch Saver product exclusively to new customers. This plan comes with a $100 sign-up credit on the first bill as well as variable rates, carbon neutral energy and monthly billing. There are also no exit fees on this offer.

GloBird Energy

GloBird Energy has significantly reduced the prices across most of its market offers in New South Wales, Victoria, south-east Queensland and South Australia. While its pricing is still substantially above the Reference Price in NSW, SA and SEQ, this change has seen the retailer’s prices drop back to somewhat competitive levels for new customers in Victoria.

Alongside this reduction in prices, GloBird Energy has also introduced an additional discount for new customers that pay on time. Previously, it has only awarded discounts for customers who paid by direct debit. GloBird Energy has also introduced its Green Light product to new customers in NSA, SA and SEQ as part of these changes. This plan was originally an exclusive to Victorians and comes with 10% carbon neutral energy included as standard.

Origin Energy

Origin Energy has changed its Home Assist product across NSW, south-east Queensland, SA, Victoria and the ACT. New customers interested in this offer can now sign up to the ‘Home Support’ plans in these states. Home Support still comes with a 12-month Allianz Emergency Home Assistance membership, however, it now offers variable rates instead of fixed.

This credit is available to new customers who sign up to The One Plan or The Basic Plan (Victoria only) and will be paid over 12 monthly installments. This credit increase has seen a small overall price drop for these plans in these states.

Energy Locals

Energy Locals has changed the rates on its offers in New South Wales, Victoria, south-east Queensland and South Australia. These changes have resulted in an overall price increase across most plans in these states bar the Local Member plan in SEQ which saw a small decrease. Only new customers who sign up to these offers will be impacted by these changes.

EnergyAustralia

EnergyAustralia has reduced the guaranteed discount available on the Flexi Plan to new customers in New South Wales and Victoria. This has a resulted in a overall price increase for this product in these states.

GloBird Energy

GloBird Energy has introduced its solar-specific energy plan, Solar Plus, to customers in Victoria. This offer comes with a boosted feed-in tariff of 10c/kWh for customers with solar panels installed. The retailer is also awarding a small discount to customers who pay on time and by direct debit on this offer.

Additionally, GloBird Energy has retired the GloSave, GreenLight and GloGreen plans to new customers in Victoria.

AGL

In Victoria, AGL has increased the rates on its flagship offer, Value Saver. This has resulted in an overall price hike for this plan to new customers. A $75 credit is still available to those who sign up online.

Origin Energy

In Victoria, Origin Energy has reduced the rates on its Basic plan. This is the retailer’s ‘standing’ offer and comes with rates in line with the Victorian Default Offer (VDO).

EnergyAustralia

In south-east Queensland, EnergyAustralia has increased the rates on its Basic Home plan. This has resulted in a significant price rise for this product. As a result of this change, AGL has now taken over top spot in SEQ, offering the cheapest single rate tariff option for customers on the Energex network, according to Canstar Blue’s database.

July 2022

Amber

Amber has introduced a new plan, Standing Offer, to market for customers in NSW, QLD and SA. This plan comes with fixed electricity rates on an ongoing contract and has prices aligned with the relevant Reference Price in each state. Unlike Amber’s other offer however, customers who sign up to this offer will not have access to wholesale rates for the duration of their contract. A smart meter is required to sign up to this offer and customers will still need to pay a monthly membership fee of about $15.

Origin Energy

Origin Energy has increased the rates on its flagship offer, Flexi Rate ePlus, across NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. This plan still requires customers to sign up online and agree to ebilling to be eligible.

Lumo Energy

In SA, Lumo Energy has increased the rates on its Basic and Plus products. This has resulted in a small overall price rise for these plans. The retailer has also retired its Movers plan for new customers in the state. Movers was an offer marketed towards renters which waived any disconnection or connection fees.

Red Energy

In QLD and SA, Red Energy has increased the rates on its Living Energy Saver, Qantas Red Saver and BCNA Saver products. This has resulted in a small overall price rise on these plans in SA and a significant price jump for plans in QLD. The retailer has also reduced its solar feed-in tariff to a flat 5c/kWh across all offers in QLD.

OVO Energy

OVO Energy has introduced a $100 Winter Warmer Credit across all its market offers in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. This credit is available to new customers and will be paid over 12 months. The $100 credit has seen these offers reduce significantly in price in each state.

EnergyAustralia

In NSW and Victoria, EnergyAustralia has increased the guaranteed discount available to new customers on the Flexi Plan. This has resulted in a small price drop for this offer in these states. The discount applies to both usage and supply charges.

Lumo Energy

In Victoria, Lumo Energy has reintroduced its flagship offer, Value, to market for new customers. This plan comes with fixed usage and supply rates for a minimum of 12 months until October 31 2023.

Kogan Energy

Kogan Energy has increased the rates on its market offer Kogan Energy with Free Kogan First for new customers in Victoria. This plan comes with a 12-month membership to the retailer’s shopping discount program. Its other market offer, Kogan Energy for Current Kogan First Members, has also seen a significant increase. The solar feed-in tariff on both of these offers has also changed to 5.2c/kWh, in line with Victoria’s new minimum feed-in tariff.

Powershop

In Victoria, Powershop has significantly increased the rates on its sole market offer, 100% Carbon Neutral. This offer still comes with a guarantee that all carbon emissions associated with customers’ energy usage will be offset and a decent solar feed-in tariff of 6.7c/kWh.

Social Energy

Social Energy has significantly increased the rates on its sole market offer – Better Together – in NSW, QLD and SA. The standard feed-in tariff on this offer has also decreased to 6c/kWh in each state. Better Together is a solar-specific energy deal, designed for customers with solar panels and a battery. It offers a boosted feed-in tariff of 40c/kWh for the first 300kWh per quarter however, customers must have had their battery installed by a preferred retailer of Social Energy to be eligible.

1st Energy

In Melbourne, 1st Energy has slightly decreased the rates on its sole market offer, 1st Saver. The retailer has also readjusted the costs of its standing offers in NSW, QLD and SA in line with the new Reference Price in each state. Market offers in these states however, are still unavailable to new customers.

Amber Electric

Following the July 1 DMO/VDO change, Amber Electric has changed the rates on its flagship offer, Amber Plan, in all states it services. This has resulted in a significant price increase for this offer in NSW, QLD and SA. Its plan for the Citipower network in Melbourne however, saw a small decrease. The Amber Plan still comes with access to wholesale electricity rates for an additional membership fee of $15 a month.

Red Energy

In New South Wales and Victoria, Red Energy has changed the rates across all its market offers. This has resulted in a significant price increase for its plans in NSW, and a small decrease for its plans on the Citipower network in Melbourne. The retailer has also adjusted its standing offers in NSW, QLD, SA and VIC in line with the July 1 DMO/VDO change. No changes have been made to the retailer’s market offers in QLD and SA just yet.

Lumo Energy

In Victoria and South Australia, Lumo Energy has updated the rates on its Victorian Default Offer and Standing Offer respectively. These changes were made in line with the recent DMO/VDO change. Lumo Energy has also removed its fixed rate offer, Value, from market to new customers in Victoria. Its market offers in SA are yet to change.

Tango Energy

Tango Energy has adjusted its standing offer prices in NSW, QLD and SA, as well as its Victorian Default Offer in VIC as a result of July 1 DMO/VDO changes. In addition to this, the retailer has since turned off its flagship fixed rate market offer, Home Select in SA and its GreenPower offer, Tango Blue, in VIC.

Tango Energy has also reintroduced its Home Select deal to customers in Victoria, however it no longer comes with its token fixed usage and supply rates. New customers in NSW, QLD and SA can only access standing offers from Tango Energy at this time.

Diamond Energy

In NSW, QLD and SA, Diamond Energy has significantly increased the rates on its flagship offer, Everyday Renewable Saver, as a result of the July 1 Reference Price change in these states. The retailer has also decreased the solar feed-in tariff available on this offer to 5c/kWh in NSW, QLD and SA. Diamond Energy has not made any changes to its offers in Victoria yet.

AGL

Following the July 1 DMO/VDO changes, AGL has updated its product line-up in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. In addition to adjusting its standing offers, the retailer has also increased the rates on its flagship offer – Value Saver in all states. A $75 online sign-up credit is still available on this offer in NSW, VIC and QLD.

AGL has also retired its Flexible Saver plan for new customers in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. This offer has since been replaced with the Basics offer, which comes with variable rates on an ongoing contract. A $75 online sign-up credit is also available on this offer in NSW, VIC and QLD.

Finally, the retailer has introduced its Solar Savers product to customers in Victoria, which offers a boosted solar feed-in tariff of 10c/kWh for the first 14kWh a day. After this, it reverts to 5.2c/kWh – the new minimum solar feed-in tariff for Victoria.

OVO Energy

OVO Energy has reintroduced its flagship market offer, The One Plan, to new customers in NSW, QLD and SA off the bat of July 1 DMO/VDO changes. The retailer has also significantly increased the prices on The One Plan and The Basic Plan in Victoria. These increases were a result of the $200 Welcome Credit on these offers being removed. OVO Energy has also removed the 10% GreenPower inclusion and carbon offsets from The One Plan in all states.

Dodo

Dodo has adjusted the rates on its Standing Offer in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA in line with the new Reference Price and Victorian Default Offer (VDO). It has also significantly increased the rates on its Market Offer in NSW. Dodo still has its Market Offer turned off to new customers in QLD and SA.

Simply Energy

Following the July 1 DMO/VDO changes, Simply Energy has adjusted its line-up in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. Most notably, the retailer has reintroduced its Simply Basics offer in all four of these states, which comes with rates equal to that seen on its standing offer in each respective state. In NSW and SA, Simply Energy has also significantly increased the rates on its Simply NRMA and Simply RAA Members plans.

Energy Locals

Energy Locals has made a few changes to its products as a result of July 1 DMO/VDO changes. In VIC, NSW, QLD and SA, the retailer has significantly increased the rates on its Local Member plan. The Online Member plan in Victoria has also seen a small price increase. Energy Locals has also since retired its Online Member 2022 offer to new customers in NSW, QLD and SA. This offer was similar to the standard Online Member plan, however, it credited back six months’ worth of its membership fees to customers. Online Member 2022 has now been replaced by the standard Online Member plan in NSW, QLD and SA.

EnergyAustralia

In line with July 1 DMO/VDO changes, EnergyAustralia has changed the rates on its offers in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. This has resulted in a significant increase for market offers in NSW, QLD and SA and a small decrease for plans on the Citipower network in Melbourne. The retailer however, is still offering a $25 online sign-up credit across all plans.

GloBird Energy

GloBird Energy has updated its standing offers in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA as a result of the DMO/VDO change on July 1. Additionally, the retailer has also significantly increased the rates on its market offers in Victoria and reduced the solar feed-in tariff available to 5.2c/kWh, in line with the new minimum in the state.

Solar feed-in tariffs on its NSW, QLD and SA market offers have also been reduced to 1c/kWh.

Alinta Energy

Alinta Energy has adjusted its standing offers in NSW, QLD and SA in line with the new default price in these states. Its market offers, however, are currently unavailable to new customers in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA.

Origin

In line with default pricing changes in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA, Origin has adjusted the rates on all its market offers, as well as its standing offers. This change has resulted in a slight price increase for its market offers in NSW, QLD and SA but a small price decrease for its plans on the Citipower network in Melbourne. The retailer has also reduced the solar feed-in tariff available on these offers in VIC and SA to 5.2c/kWh and 5c/kWh respectively.

In addition to the pricing changes, Origin has also removed its concession offer, Value, from market in SA.

June 2022

EnergyAustralia

EnergyAustralia has reduced the online sign-up credit available on the Flexi Plan and Basic Home products to $25 for new customers in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. The retailer has also reduced the guaranteed discount available on the Flexi Plan in these states. As such, this offer has seen a significant price increase.

The retailer has also now retired its fixed rate offers, Total Plan and No Frills, to new customers in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA.

Origin

Origin has increased the rates on its flagship offer, Flexi Rate ePlus, in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. This has resulted in a significant price rise for this plan to new customers. The retailer has also removed the small sign-up credit that used to come with this offer in Victoria.

Powershop

Powershop has re-introduced its 100% Carbon Neutral offer for new customers in NSW, QLD and SA. This offer still comes with energy that is claimed to be 100% carbon offset however, its variable rates have seen a significant increase in each state.

OVO Energy

OVO Energy has re-introduced its market offers – The One Plan & The Basic Plan – to customers in Victoria with a few changes. These plans no longer offer 10% GreenPower included or 100% Carbon Neutral Energy, however, customers will be awarded with a $200 ‘Winter Welcome Credit’, which is paid over 12 monthly installments. The retailer has shared on its website though that these plans are not available for immediate supply and any customers who sign up to them won’t have their account transferred to OVO Energy until 4 July 2022.

Dodo

In Victoria, Dodo has significantly increased the rates on its flagship plan, Market Offer. The retailer’s cheapest electricity deal in the state is now its Standing Offer, which provides similar rates to the VDO.

Sumo

Sumo has increased the rates on two of its market offer plans in Victoria – Sumo Assure and Sumo Freedom. The provider’s cheapest electricity deal in Victoria right now is the ‘Sumo Assure Advantage’ plan, which comes with variable rates, however customers must sign up to direct debit payments.

AGL

AGL has made some changes to its offers for Seniors and Concession Card holders. The retailer’s Seniors Saver plan now comes with variable rates instead of fixed rates. However, a small sign-up credit is still available to new customers who switch to this plan. This offer is still available in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA, with the credit varying depending on location. AGL has also retired its Seniors Variable plan in NSW, QLD and SA.

Origin

Origin has significantly increased the rates on its Everyday Rewards, Go and Home Assist plans in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. This has resulted in a significant price rise to these products for new customers. Everyday Rewards and Go however, still offer fixed rates on a 12 month contract.

Radian Energy

Radian Energy has re-introduced its market offers in NSW and QLD, however its rates are significantly higher than normal or those seen by other providers in these states. The retailer has shared on its website that it has had to raise its pricing by over double in order to stay afloat.

Sumo

In NSW, Sumo has increased the rates on its Sumo Assure and Sumo Freedom products. This has resulted in a significant price rise to these products for new customers.

GloBird Energy

GloBird Energy has significantly increased the rates across all its market offers in NSW, VIC, QLD, SA. The retailer has also removed the IdeaSave and SureSave products for new customers in Victoria. GloBird Energy’s standing offers, which align with relevant DMO/VDO pricing, are now the cheapest of its plans in each state.

EnergyAustralia

EnergyAustralia has made some changes to its plans in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. No Frills, Balance Plan Home and Basic Home are now offering $50 in sign-up credit to new customers. The Total Plan Home product has also had a slight price change in NSW, QLD,  SA with the guaranteed discount off usage and supply rates now significantly lower. This means this plan is now more expensive in these states.

The retailer has also introduced a new product across all states – Flexi Plan. This offer comes with variable rates over a 12 month benefit period and a guaranteed discounts off usage and supply charges. This discount varies depending on location. A $50 sign-up credit is also available on this offer in VIC, QLD and SA, with this credit is bumped up to $75 for customers in NSW.

OVO Energy

OVO Energy has removed its sign-up credit of $75 in all states. This means its flagship offer, The One Plan, is now more expensive in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. While OVO has removed this credit, this deal still has reasonably competitive rates.

May 2022

ReAmped Energy

In Victoria, ReAmped Energy has increased the usage rates on its Handshake offer. This has resulted in an overall price hike for this plan. Handshake however, still remains the cheapest single rate electricity offer available to customers across all five of Victoria’s distribution networks.

GloBird Energy

GloBird has decreased its rates in Victoria on its flagship offer – GloSave. The deal still comes with a small direct debit discount and variable rates. GloBird has also introduced a new plan called ‘Green Light’, which comes with 10 per cent carbon neutral energy.

Momentum Energy

Momentum Energy has revamped its product line-up in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. The retailer has retired its Self Serve and SmilePower Flexi plans and replaced these with its new Nothing Fancy and Suit Yourself offers respectively. Nothing Fancy offers low, ‘no frills’ variable rates but requires customers to agree to direct debit payments and e-communications, where Suit Yourself dishes out 10% GreenPower at no additional cost to bill-payers.

Momentum Energy has also retired its Bill Boss offer from market in Victoria.

AGL

AGL has introduced an online sign-up credit of $75 to its Value Saver, Flexible Saver and Senior Saver in NSW, QLD and Victoria. The power giant has removed its Amazon Prime membership offer from all states and plans, including gas.

1st Energy

In NSW and QLD, 1st Energy has removed its pay on time discount from the 1st Saver product. This has resulted in a slight price increase for this offer in these states. The retailer has also removed its solar-specific deal, 1st Solar Bonus, from market in NSW, QLD and SA.

Simply Energy

Simply Energy has changed the guaranteed discounts on some of its offers in NSW and SA. This has resulted in a slight price drop for the Simply Blue Perks offer in NSW and a price increase for the Simply Energy Saver product in SA.

The retailer has also started offering an electricity plan marketed at solar customers, in NSW, VIC and QLD. This offer, named Simply Energy Solar, rewards customers with a boosted solar feed-in tariff between 10-12c/kWh, depending on the location.

Powershop

Powershop has ditched the ‘100% Carbon Neutral’ plan in NSW and Victoria, which has been replaced by its latest offer, ‘Switch Saver’. Switch Saver comes with the same rates as its predecessor, but offers a generous sign-up credit. It also offsets emissions generated from customers’ electricity usage at no extra cost.

GloBird Energy

High-flying GloBird Energy has shuffled its products and prices across most areas it services. In Victoria, GloBird has reduced its rates on two of its offers, while it has also brought back its ‘Boost’ plan. In NSW, QLD and SA, GloBird has removed its sign-up credit on Boost, GloSave and GloGreen, resulting in higher prices. In these states, it has also re-introduced the UltraSave deal, as well as a solar plan in NSW.

OVO Energy

OVO Energy has introduced a new sign-up incentive on all market offers in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. With its ‘Winter Welcome Credit’ new customers will receive a $75 sign-up credit to be paid over 12 monthly installments. This has resulted in a slight price drop for offers in these states.

Momentum Energy

Momentum Energy has changed the rates on its market offers across NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. These changes have resulted in a slight price drop for plans in NSW, VIC and QLD. A small price rise was seen for offers in South Australia.

GloBird Energy

GloBird Energy has increased its rates to new customers across NSW, Victoria, QLD and SA. Most of its market offers are now considerably more expensive. GloBird has also removed the Boost product in Victoria, while it scrapped the SureSave and UltraSave in NSW, QLD and SA.

OVO Energy

OVO Energy has removed its $90 sign-up credit from its market offers in NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. This has resulted in a small price increase on these offers in each state.

Nectr

In South Australia, Nectr has added a $50 sign-up credit to its 100% Clean plan. This credit is only available to new Nectr customers and will be applied on the second bill.

Simply Energy

Simply Energy has varied its prices on two of its market offers in NSW. Simply NRMA Members is now more expensive, while Simply Energy Saver is considerably cheaper. Both offers still come with a guaranteed discount off usage and supply charges.

ReAmped Energy

In NSW and QLD, ReAmped Energy has significantly increased the rates across all its market offers. This has resulted in a large price hike for all ReAmped Energy plans in these states. The retailer has also reduced the solar feed-in tariff on its solar-specific electricity deal in Victoria to 7c/kWh. Previously the solar feed-in tariff was 8.7c/kWh.

EnergyAustralia

EnergyAustralia has increased the online sign-up credit on its Total Plan Home deal to $50 across NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. A $25 sign-up credit is also now available on the Balance Plan Home offer in NSW, VIC and SA. The retailer has also introduced a solar-specific electricity deal across NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. This deal spruiks a boosted solar feed-in tariff of 10c/kWh for a one year benefit period.

Simply Energy

In Victoria, Simply Energy has changed the guaranteed discount offered on the Simply Movie Perks plan. This has resulted in an overall price increase for the offer. The retailer has also retired the Simply Energy Saver product in the state. This offer has now been replaced by the Simply Basics plan, which offers pricing in line with the Victorian Default Offer.

March 2022

Origin

Origin has changed the rates on most its market offers across NSW, VIC, QLD and SA. A slight price drop was seen for the Flexi Rate ePlus offer across most states (excluding NSW), whilst an increase was seen for the Everyday Rewards, Go and Home Assist products in all four states. Despite the changes, Origin remains the cheapest of the ‘big three’ providers for South Australians and ties for cheapest with AGL in Queensland.

Radian Energy

Newcomer Radian Energy has introduced two new plans in the states it serves – NSW and QLD. The retailer now offers The Simple Switch 100% Net Zero and The Simple Switch 100% Renewable, which as the names suggest, offset all of its customers’ carbon emissions or include 100% of GreenPower, respectively. Each plan also comes with a $50 sign-up credit.

OVO Energy

OVO Energy has bumped up the online sign-up credit on its plans from $60 to $90 for customers in NSW, Victoria, QLD and SA. This credit will be paid over 12 monthly installments. OVO Energy currently offers one of the cheapest power plans for bill-payers in each of these states.

GloBird Energy

GloBird Energy has increased the rates on some of its market offers in NSW, QLD and SA. All three states saw a price jump for the Boost product, whilst NSW and QLD also saw an increase for the GloSave plan. There was a slight increase to rates on the UltraSave plan in NSW as well. Despite the price rise, GloBird still offers the cheapest single rate electricity offer to customers across all three of NSW’s distribution zones, according to our database.

AGL

Moving away from offering a fixed-rate plan, AGL has replaced the Super Saver deal with the Value Saver deal in NSW, QLD and SA. Value Saver mirrors the same deal offered already in Victoria, which comes with variable rates, no exit fees or lock-in contracts. Customers who sign up to the Value Saver must agree to e-billing.

EnergyAustralia

A few price changes for EnergyAustralia across the board on its Total Plan Home and No Frills products. This is due to the retailer introducing a $25 credit for signing up online.

Origin

Origin has introduced its ‘Solar Lite’ product in NSW and SA. This plan is marketed towards customers with solar panels who are looking for lower base rates as opposed to a high feed-in tariff. Solar Lite is a fixed rate plan with a benefit period of 12 months. Previously, this offer was only available to Queenslanders.

Simply Energy

Simply Energy has re-introduced its ‘Simply Energy Saver’ plan in Victoria, which comes with variable rates and a large guaranteed discount off usage and supply charges. It also increased the discount amount on its ‘Simply Movie Perks’ product, which comes with a smaller discount but gives customers 1,000 Vrewards points every month.

February 2022

Origin

In NSW, Origin has reduced the rates on its flagship offer, Flexi Rate ePlus, on the Ausgrid Network. This network covers the wider Sydney area and central-east coast of NSW. Origin is now the cheapest of the big three providers for this network area.

GloBird Energy

GloBird Energy has changed the rates on some of its offers in New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia. The Boost and GloSave plans in these three states have seen a significant price drop, as well as the UltraSave product in SA. In NSW and QLD however, the UltraSave plan saw a price increase. These plans still offer a $50 sign-up credit in NSW, QLD and SA.

ReAmped Energy

ReAmped has increased the rates on some of its offers in New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia. The Advance plan has seen an overall price increase in all three states, while a price jump was also noted for the Handshake plan in NSW and QLD. The Classic plan also saw an increase to its rates in NSW.

The retailer has also reduced the solar feed-in tariffs available on its market offers in NSW, QLD, SA, the ACT and Victoria.

ReAmped Energy

Bright Spark Power

Bright Spark Power has increased the usage rates on its flagship offer, Aussie Flat Rate Plan, in NSW and QLD. This has resulted in an overall price increase to this plan in both of these states.

GloBird Energy

In Victoria, GloBird Energy has reduced the rates on its carbon neutral energy plan, GloGreen. This has resulted in a significant price drop for this offer. The retailer has also re-introduced the GloSave and Boost electricity products to market. Both of these offers come with competitive variable rates and no exit-fees. CovaU Energy

CovaU has changed its plans in Victoria, dropping the Super Saver Plus deal for the new Super Saver and Super Saver Online. In addition to these new plans, CovaU Energy also offers solar-specific variants of the same name, offering a feed-in tariff for solar customers.

Sumo

Sumo has added a $50 online sign-up credit to some of its products available in NSW, QLD and Victoria. New customers in NSW and VIC can score this credit on the Assure and Freedom plans, whilst those in QLD can earn $50 off the Assure Advantage offer. This credit is also applicable on Sumo’s Assure and Freedom gas plans in NSW.

Nectr

Nectr has changed its line-up of plans in NSW, QLD and SA. It now offers the 100% Clean product, which comes with fixed rates for 12 months and offsets 100 per cent of its customers’ power usage at no extra cost. This deal also throws in a small credit for referring a friend to the retailer.

EnergyAustralia

EnergyAustralia has changed the rates on its No Frills plan in Victoria. This deal still locks in rates for 12 months and has no exit fees or lock-in contracts.

Powershop

Powershop has increased the rates on its 100% Carbon Neutral offer in NSW, QLD and SA. This has resulted in a slight overall price increase in NSW and SA and a significant price jump in QLD. There were no changes made to the 100% Carbon Neutral electricity plan in Victoria.

Momentum Energy

In Victoria, Momentum Energy has changed the rates on all its market offers. This has resulted in a significant price drop for the ‘Self Serve’ and ‘Bill Boss’ products and a slight price rise for the ‘Smile Power Flexi plan’.

Powershop

In NSW, Powershop has introduced a new solar specific energy plan called ‘Super Solar’. This deal is marketed towards customers with solar panels, offering variable rates, GreenPower options and a whopping 13c/kWh solar feed-in tariff. Similar to Powershop’s other market offer, Super Solar is also 100 per cent carbon neutral.

Locality Planning Energy

In NSW, LPE has removed all its offers from market. The retailer still has one market offer in south-east Queensland, called ‘Mates Rate’. This plan comes with variable rates on an ongoing contract.

1st Energy

In Victoria, 1st Energy has made some changes to its product lineup, retiring its 1st Saver Plus offer and introducing three new plans. The new plans, ‘1st Super Saver’, ‘1st Super Saver Online’ and ‘1st Super Saver Menulog’ all offer variable rates on an ongoing contract. Each offer also comes with a guaranteed discount and bill credits which span across a 12 month period. The Menulog offer also comes with 10 x $20 Menulog vouchers for bill-payers to use.

The retailer has also increased the price of its ‘Prepay Value’ offer in the state. This plan requires customers to make an upfront payment of $2,000, which is then used as a credit on your future electricity bills.

EnergyAustralia

In NSW, EnergyAustralia has increased the guaranteed discount on its flagship offer, Total Plan Home. This has resulted in an overall price decrease for the plan in the state.

GloBird Energy

GloBird Energy has introduced a new product to its lineup in NSW, QLD, SA and Victoria, titled ‘GloGreen’. This is a variable rate offer that the retailer claims is 100 per carbon neutral, meaning any associated emissions from a customer’s electricity usage will be offset by GloBird. It comes with no exit fees and a small discount is available to customers who pay their bills via direct debit. New customers in NSW, SA and QLD can also snag a small sign-up credit.

The retailer has also made some further product changes in Victoria, removing the Boost and GloSave plans from market. It has also slightly reduced the price of its SureSave offer in the state.

CovaU Energy

Retailer CovaU Energy has added a new plan to its lineup in Victoria. The Super Saver Plus Online gives customers a $50 bill credit when they sign up online. This deal comes with a 30% guaranteed discount off usage and supply charges for 12 months.

Kogan Energy

Kogan Energy has re-shuffled its product lineup for the new year. The retailer has retired its flagship plan ‘Market Offer’ across the board and has introduced two new plans in partnership with Kogan First in its place. The first of these plans is the ‘Kogan Energy with Free Kogan First’ deal that offers variable rates and a complimentary 12 month membership to Kogan First, a discount and rewards system for shoppers. The second of these plans is the ‘Kogan Energy for Current Kogan First Members’ which is open to current members, and instead of offering a membership, rewards customers with a $49 one-off bill credit. These two deals are available in NSW, QLD, SA and Victoria.

The provider has also introduced a new basic, no discount, variable rate plan in NSW, SA and QLD which offers pricing similar to the reference price in these states.

EnergyAustralia

With the default tariff dropping in Victoria from January 1, EnergyAustralia has lowered its rates on the Total Plan Home product. This deal still comes with fixed rates for 12 months and has no lock-in contracts or exit fees.

GloBird Energy

In Victoria, GloBird Energy has re-intorduced the Boost and GloSave products to market. Both of these plans offer variable rates with no lock-in contracts or exit fees. The GloSave product also offers a small discount to customers who pay their bill via direct debit.

Origin Energy

In Victoria, Origin has removed its latest Flexi Rate ePlus electricity plan from market. The gas counterpart for this offer has also been removed. This deal is still available in NSW, SA and NSW, however.

Lumo Energy

In Victoria, Lumo Energy has removed its Movers electricity plan. This product was targeted at renters which came without connection and disconnection fees. This deal is still available to customers in South Australia, however.

Momentum Energy

Momentum Energy has changed the rates on all its market offers in Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales. This change has resulted in a decent price drop for the SmilePower Flexi plan in these states. The Self Serve product is also now slightly cheaper in NSW and QLD, however, it is now more expensive in Victoria. Bill Boss has also seen a slight price drop in Victoria.

Alinta Energy

In QLD, Alinta Energy has reduced the usage rate on its two market offers – Home Deal and Sports Pack, resulting in an overall yearly price decrease. Unfortunately for solar customers, the provider has dropped its feed-in tariff rate to 8c/kWh in QLD and SA, while it has also been reduced in NSW to 6.7c/kWh.

November 2021

EnergyAustralia

EnergyAustralia has slightly increased the price of its flagship fixed rate offer, Total Plan Home in NSW, SA, QLD and Victoria. A price increase has also occurred for this product’s gas counterpart in eligible states.

Origin Energy

Origin Energy has slightly increased the rates on its fixed rate offers, Everyday Rewards and Go, in NSW, SA and QLD. The retailer has also retired its variable rate product, Go Variable, in these states and Victoria. This plan has now been replaced by the Flexi Rate ePlus product – an online only variable rate offer with a 12 month benefit period. To be eligible for this offer, customers will need to agree to online billing and communication via email. Flexi Rate ePlus is now one of Origin’s cheapest offers in most states.

Simply Energy

Victorians who sign up to Simply Energy’s market offers will receive a bigger guaranteed discount off usage and supply charges. All three plans – Simply Blue Perks, Simply Energy Saver and Simply Movie Perks are now considerably cheaper. Each deal in Victoria comes with variable rates but offers customers value-add incentives based on personal preferences.

GloBird Energy

In Victoria, GloBird Energy has slashed the price on its IdeaSave plan. The retailer has also retired its GloSave and Boost products from market. IdeaSave is now GloBird’s flagship offer in the state.

In Queensland, GloBird Energy has introduced Boost and re-introduced the GloSave product to market. Both of these plans offer competitive variable rates, no exit fees and a $50 sign-up credit. The GloSave product also comes with a small discount for those who pay via direct debit.

Bright Spark Power

New Aussie start-up retailer Bright Spark Power has increased the usage rates on its market offers in NSW and QLD. The Aussie Flat Rate Plan still comes with fixed rates and no exit fees.

Sumo

Sumo has removed its $50 credit off its electricity plans in all states. In Victoria, Sumo has decreased the rates on its Assure and Freedom deals, which are now notably cheaper.

Tango Energy

Tango Energy has reduced the rates on its Home Select product in NSW and QLD. This has resulted is a significant price drop, making it one of the cheapest offers available on the Ausgrid and Energex networks. The retailer has also slightly lowered the price of its signature GreenPower product, Tango Blue, in NSW.

In Victoria, Tango Energy has introduced a new fixed rate product to its line-up called ‘Prepay & Save’, which requires customers to make a one off $200 pre-payment before signing up to the plan. This payment is then used as a bill credit later on. Customers interested in this offer though will need to agree to direct debit payments, online communication and also get gas with Tango. The retailer has also updated its solar offer in the state. This product is now known as ‘Solar Saver’ and offers a FiT of 8.5c/kWh. Bill payers will also need to be signed up to gas with Tango in order to access this plan though.

October 2021

ReAmped Energy

In NSW, ReAmped Energy has reduced the rates on its Advance product. This offer requires customers to pay fixed fortnightly payments, two weeks in advance and is one of the cheapest plans that customers on the Ausgrid network can access.

GloBird Energy

GloBird Energy has reduced the rates on its Boost and GloSave products in South Australia. New customers who sign up to the provider can take advantage of cheaper prices on these two deals. The provider has also re-introduced its market offers in NSW – Boost, GloSave, UltraSave and SureSave.

Radian Energy

In NSW and QLD, Radian Energy has increased the usage and supply rates on its ‘Grid to Go’ plan. This has resulted in a slight price increase on the product in NSW and a significant price jump in QLD. The rates on this product have also changed in the ACT.

Kogan Energy

Kogan Energy has made some changes to its rates on its ‘Market Offer’ product. In Victoria, Queensland and South Australia, this deal is now cheaper, while it’s slightly more expensive in NSW.

Sumo

In New South Wales, Sumo has reduced the usage and supply rates on its market offers. This has resulted in a minor price drop for the retailer’s flagship offer, Sumo Assure, and a significant price reduction for the Sumo Freedom plan. A $50 bill credit is also available to new customers in NSW that sign-up to either of these plans. The solar feed-in tariff on these plans has also been reduced.

Momentum Energy

In Victoria, Momentum Energy has dropped the rates on its two market offers – Bill Boss and Self Serve. These two plans are now considerably cheaper across the state, meaning new customers who sign up to Momentum can take advantage of cheaper prices.

EnergyAustralia

EnergyAustralia has released a new product into its line-up called Balance Plan Home. This plan offers variable rates for 12 months, with a guaranteed discount on the usage and supply charges. Balance Plan Home is available in NSW, QLD, SA, Victoria and the ACT and comes with no exit fees. The discount on this plan will vary depending on location. EnergyAustralia has also reduced the solar feed-in tariff on all its products across the board.

Sumo

In Queensland, Sumo is offering a $50 sign-up credit on its sole market offer, Sumo Assure Advantage. This sign-up credit has resulted in an overall price drop, making it one of the cheapest plans available on the Energex network.

Powershop

Powershop has now retired its ‘$100 Offer’ in NSW, SA and QLD and its ‘$200 Offer’ in Victoria. The retailer now only has one sole market offer in these states – the 100% Carbon Neutral plan, which has also seen a slight overall price drop in each state.

OVO Energy

In Victoria, OVO Energy has introduced a new market offer called ‘The Basic Plan’. Similar to its other market offer, this plan comes with variable rates and 10 per cent GreenPower included. Unlike its other product however, The Basic Plan does not require customers to agree to pay by direct debit. This plan is slightly more expensive than the retailer’s original market offer though and requires customers to own a smart meter.

Mojo Power

In Queensland and New South Wales, Mojo has increased the usage and supply rates on its All Day Breakfast and Single Minded plans. While this price increase has had only a small impact on these plans in NSW, it has resulted in a significant overall price increase in QLD. The retailer has also introduced a dedicated GreenPower plan, called ‘Evergreen’, in these states. This variable rate product allows customers with a smart meter to opt into 25, 50 or 100 per cent GreenPower for an additional cost.

Sumo

In Victoria and New South Wales, Sumo is offering a $50 sign-up credit on its Freedom and Assure plans. This sign-up credit has resulted in an overall price drop on these plans in these states.

GloBird Energy

GloBird has again made changes to two of its market offers in Victoria – Boost and GloSave. Rates are now slightly cheaper on these variable-rate plans. GloSave is its cheapest plan in Victoria and comes with a small discount for paying by direct debit.

Tango Energy

Tango Energy has continued to expand its services across Australia and is now offering electricity to Queenslanders. The retailer has one market offer in the state – its flagship, fixed rate offer ‘Home Select’ – that offers a decent amount off the reference price. Tango Energy is also offering a solar FiT of 5c/kWh to customers in QLD.

GloBird Energy

In Victoria, GloBird Energy has re-introduced its GloSave product to customers. This is another of the provider’s low variable rate plans that offers a small discount for customers who pay via direct debit. The retailer has also slightly decreased the price of its Boost product in the state.

EnergyAustralia

EnergyAustralia has made some changes to its Total Plan Home product – increasing the guaranteed discount on offer across all states. The Total Plan Home is now cheaper in NSW, VIC, QLD, SA and the ACT.

Sumo

Bundled utilities provider, Sumo, has recently launched in South Australia. The retailer is offering its Sumo Assure Advantage product to South Australians as its sole market offer in the state. This is a variable rate plan that sits reasonably well off the reference price, with no exit fees or lock-in contracts. Customers can also get a solar feed-in tariff of 8c/kWh on this plan.

ReAmped Energy

In Victoria, ReAmped Energy has decreased the rates of its Handshake product. This plan is now one of the cheapest offers across all five of Victoria’s distribution networks. The retailer has also slightly increased the price of its other market offer, Classic, in the state.

Tango Energy

Greener retailer, Tango Energy, has officially launched in the South Australia. The retailer is offering one market offer to SA customers known as Home Select. This product is a 12-month fixed rate plan with no exit fees or confusing discounts. The retailer also has a solar specific plan, Solar Plus, in South Australia, which offers a 20c/kWh feed-in tariff. However, customers will have to purchase their solar system with Tango Energy in order to receive this high solar FiT.

Dodo

In NSW, Dodo has significantly decreased the rates on its flagship product, Market Offer. This plan is now considerably cheaper for electricity customers.

Enova Energy

Enova Energy has significantly increased the usage and supply rates on its sole market offer, Community Plus, in NSW and QLD. This product is now significantly more expensive in these states. A small pay on time discount is still available on this offer.

Energy Locals

Energy Locals has renamed its flagship product to Online Member 2022 – a deal which gives customers access to wholesale rates for a monthly membership fee. Online Member 2022 is now considerably cheaper than its predecessor in NSW, QLD, SA and the ACT. The Online Member plan in Victoria has also decreased in price.

QEnergy

On the back of recent increases to the VDO, QEnergy has bucked the trend in Victoria, lowering its rates on the Mini Me product. This deal now holds very reasonable prices and has no exit fees or lock-in contracts.

GloBird Energy

GloBird Energy has made some changes to its product line-up in Victoria and South Australia. In Victoria, the provider has re-introduced its IdeaSave offer to new customers. This offer bundles in a yearly membership to ‘Small Ideas’, which offers family discounts off a range of activities, products and venues across Australia. GloBird Energy has also introduced a new variable rate plan to Victorians and South Australians, called Boost. The Boost plan is claimed to be best suited to medium to large households thanks to its lower usage rates. In South Australia, the Boost product also comes with a small sign-up credit.  GloSave, the retailer’s basic, low variable rate plan, has also been re-introduced to South Australians.

ReAmped Energy

ReAmped Energy has made some slight decreases to its rates on the Advance plan in NSW and QLD. Aside from its electricity rate changes, ReAmped has also increased its solar feed-in tariff to 7.1c/kWh in Victoria, and now offers customers a 3c/kWh solar feed-in tariff in NSW, QLD and SA on the Advance product.

Simply Energy

Simply Energy has increased the price on all its market and standing offers in Victoria as a result of the September 1 VDO change. This means that the rates on the ‘Simply Energy Saver’, ‘Simply Blue’ (now called Simply Blue Perks) and ‘Simply Movies’ (now called Simply Movie Perks) plans have increased. The retailer has also introduced its ‘Simply Seniors’ plan in the state. This plan offers a low variable rate and is only available to customers on a seniors card. Simply’s solar FiT on all its Victorian plans has also reduced to 6.7c/kWh, in line with the state’s minimum requirement.

Dodo

In Victoria, Dodo has increased the rates of its standing and market offers in line with the VDO change on September 1. This has resulted in a significant overall price increase on the ‘Market Offer’ and ‘Standing Offer’ plans across all five of Victoria’s distribution networks.

Momentum Energy

Momentum Energy has significantly reduced the price of its flagship offer ‘Self-Serve’ in NSW, QLD, SA and Victoria. Rates were also reduced on the ‘SmilePower Flexi’ plan in NSW, QLD and SA, resulting in a significant overall price drop on this product in these states. The ‘Move Mate’ electricity and gas offers in Victoria have also now been retired. This product was specifically designed for renters and movers.

EnergyAustralia

EnergyAustralia has increased its prices on its market and standing offer plans in Victoria as a result of the VDO changing on September 1. This means the rates on the Total Plan Home, No Frills and Basic Home have risen across Victoria.

Origin Energy

In line with the September 1 Victorian Default Offer or VDO price increase in Victoria, Origin has increased the prices on its ‘Standing’ offer across all five distribution networks in Victoria. The retailer has also increased the price of its flagship ‘Everyday Rewards’ and ‘Go’ plans across these networks.

August 2021

Red Energy

In NSW, Red Energy has significantly reduced the usage and supply rates on all its market offers, resulting in a large overall price drop on the ‘Living Energy Saver’, ‘Qantas Saver’, ‘Red Taronga Saver’ and ‘BCNA Saver’ plans. The retailer has also changed the prices on all its market offers in the ACT, however, these changes have resulted in a significant price increase for the plans.

1st Energy

1st Energy has increased its pay on time discount on its 1st Saver Plus plan in Victoria. The rates on its other product, Prepay Value, have also dropped, along with its solar feed-in tariff for customers across Victoria.

ReAmped Energy

ReAmped Energy has adjusted its prices across all its product offerings in NSW, QLD, SA, Victoria and the ACT. In NSW and SA, the retailer has significantly reduced the price on all its market offers, whilst QLD and the ACT only saw a minor price change to these plans. In Victoria, ReAmped Energy has also reduced the supply charge on the Handshake plan, leading to an overall price decrease. The solar feed-in tariff on the retailer’s dedicated solar plan has also seen a price decrease and restructure in NSW, SA, QLD and the ACT. ReAmped Energy’s offers are now amongst some of the cheapest deals across all distribution networks in each of these states and territory.

Powerclub

In Victoria, Powerclub has increased the usage rates on its ‘Powerbank Home Flat’ plan, resulting in a significant overall price increase. The solar FiT on this offer was also reduced to 6.7c/kWh, in line with the new minimum FiT requirement imposed in the state. Powerclub has also increased the membership fee on this plan to $45. This membership fee increase also occurred in NSW, QLD, SA and the ACT, causing a tiny price increase on the ‘Powerbank Home Flat’ and ‘Powerbank Home Flat Smart’ plans in these states.

Alinta Energy

In Victoria, Alinta Energy has reduced its solar FiT offered on its plans to 6.7c/kWh, in line with the new minimum solar FiT requirement in the state. The retailer’s flagship offer, ‘Homedeal’, still remains as one of the cheapest deals available to Victorians on the Citipower network.

Amber Electric

Amber Electric has adjusted the pricing of its flagship offer, ‘Amber Plan’, in Victoria, NSW, QLD, SA and the ACT. In NSW, QLD and SA, this plan has seen a slight overall price drop, thanks to a significant drop on the general usage charges. In Victoria and the ACT, however, this plan has seen a massive price increase. The retailer has also reduced its solar FiT on its plans in Victoria to 6.7c/kWh in line with the new imposed minimum FiT charge in the state.

Discover Energy

In Victoria, Discover Energy has retired its ‘Introductory Offer’. This offer has now been replaced with the ‘Smart Saver’ offer, which was previously only available in NSW, QLD and SA. Smart Saver is a variable rate plan that comes with similar usage rates to those seen on the Introductory Offer. Customers who sign-up to  this plan will also need to sign-up to e-billing and direct debit or credit card payments.

Social Energy

Social Energy has changed the usage and supply rates on its flagship offer ‘Better Together’ in NSW, QLD, SA and the ACT. The Better Together plan still offers a decent discount off the reference price in these states and a generous solar feed-in tariff, granted that customers purchase a solar battery and system through the retailer. This plan is only available to solar customers. Non-solar customers, however, can still sign-up to the provider, just under its ‘Basic Plan’.

CovaU Energy

CovaU has retired its ‘Freedom Plus’ and ‘Freedom Plus Solar’ plans from its product line-up in QLD and NSW. Replacing these offers is the ‘Freedom’ and ‘Freedom Solar’ variable rate plans. These plans both offer the same usage and supply rates, however, they are slightly more expensive than the original offers. The retailer has also significantly reduced its solar FiT offering to 5.5c/kWh on its ‘Freedom Solar’ plan in all locations.

In addition to changing its product line-up, CovaU has also expanded to SA and the ACT. Customers in these states now have access to the ‘Freedom’ and ‘Freedom Solar’ plans. In SA, these plans are quite competitively priced.

Simply Energy

Simply Energy has introduced its ‘Simply Seniors’ plan in QLD. Simply Seniors is a low variable rate plan that offers similar usage rates as those seen on the ‘Simply Blue Perks’ offer. As the name suggests, this offer is only available to customers who hold a seniors card.  Previously this offer was only available in NSW and SA.

In NSW, Simply Energy has also renamed its ‘Simply NRMA Members’ plan. This offer is now known as just ‘Simply NRMA’.

AGL

In SA and QLD, AGL has increased the price of its ‘Super Saver’ electricity plan. While SA’s changes were only minor, QLD, has seen a significant overall price increase as a result. The retailer has also reduced the solar FiT offered on its designated solar plan, Solar Savers, to 12c/kWh across SA, QLD and NSW.

Diamond Energy
