A brief history of the company

Simpson is a long-standing brand from Adelaide, and has merged with many different companies since their establishment in 1909. In 1999, they became a part of the Electrolux group, which they are still a part of today.

Before this, there were various merges in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, until the final merge in the 90s. In 2006, the Simpson manufacturing plant was shut down and all production came from Electrolux factories.

Simpson produce a number of different washing machine models, across both front loader and top loaders. According to Simpson, its best-selling washing machine is the Simpson Eziset Top Load Washing Machine 5.5kg. For those with a larger household though, the 8.5kg or even 10kg model might be more suitable!

What our survey respondents say…

Earlier in 2015 Canstar Blue surveyed 1,248 people who had bought a new washing machine in the last three years. These are some of the comments, among others, made by survey respondents who had purchased a Simpson top-loading washing machine.

Very reliable and saves me water Made overseas, so the quality has gone down.
I have tried other brands but still prefer Simpson, They still perform well. Can’t cut into a cycle if need be
Reasonably good value for money Wash sometimes leaves soap stain
Not expensive, easy to find parts for repairing Can be a bit noisy but that’s normal for most washing machines.
Quiet and easy to use and has a large washing capacity Tangles & creases clothes too much
A no nonsense machine that does the job When machine it beeps every 12 minutes until you turn it off
