Anyone with a dishwasher knows how wonderful it is not to get your hands all dried out from soapy water several times a day. And in 2015 Miele has taken the Most Satisfied Customers – Dishwashers award. So here’s brief rundown of Miele. And you can check the survey results here.
The people behind the name
In 1899, engineer Carl Miele and businessman Reinhard Zinkann founded a company for the manufacture of cream separators in Germany. Their guiding principle became a strong business philosophy: “immer besser”, which means “better and better”.
Beginning with only four lathes and one drilling machine, they soon grew. Miele now has branches across Australia, Europe, North and South America, Asia and even Africa.
Some of Miele’s dishwasher innovations
1929: Miele produces Europe’s first electric dishwasher.
1963: Miele introduces a new stainless steel dishwasher that has enough capacity for 12 standard place settings, has its own detergent dispenser, and can even be built-in.
1978: Miele produces the first microprocessor computer-controlled dishwashers.
1987: Miele introduces the first dishwasher with a cutlery tray above its two crockery trays, calling it “top-level dishwashing”.
